BoochmaN's ROTJ WIP

Question about the right chest armor. I have asked this question while building my rotj and was informed that it does't have an actual dent in the armor, and that is was just painted. Some of the reference pictures I saw looked like a dent but others show it is just painted to look like one. What have you learned about this.
If you notice, some people building their Fett create that dent by heating the back of their armor to soften it, and use something to make the dent there.

Mine came like that from Fettpride, and the dents look REALLY exaggerated in the photos because of the time of day and the shadows created. They’re really not that big, FYI.

And it’s not a stupid question either - it’s valid given the amount of “versions” of ROTJ there are...

BLASTER:
I mentioned previously that I planned on re-weathering a few items. I re-did my boots, but the last few nights I’ve focused on the blaster. Hit it with some flat black and gunmetal when we had a “nice” day this weekend. Then started to weather using acrylics.

Tonight I started the rusting process - adding dark & light brown in the nooks and crannies. Tomorrow I’ll actially add the rust washes to really make this thing look used and abused. Been thinking about also applying some random gunmetal and rust throughout the blaster using a piece of foam (for an irregular application). Many of the reference photos show random accumulation of rust here and there...

I’m definitely taking my time. It’s already a HUGE improvement from what it used to look like. I’m posting some before and afters. The previous weathering job is the “before”.

Lastly, I contacted USPS and they opened an investigation and gave me a case number for my helmet. I’m bummed that I haven’t received it yet. Fettpride said he’s only had maybe a handful of items get lost by USPS, and that the helmet was insured. But still - after waiting this long only to have it messed up by the shipping company, something I thought was a sure thing, has really got me down...

Oh man, your helmet is MIA via USPS?

Sorry to hear. I've had a few issues and my package showed up in a few days.

Good to hear. I’m sure they have it somewhere, but at this point I’m beyond frustrated. Label PRINTED March 1, mailed on the 20th, supposed to be here on the 28th and now it’s MIA. I’m sure it will show up, and it’s likely because of the weather out West...

Helmet shipping update: I got a call from USPS yesterday regarding the investigation of my helmet. Apparently, packages shipped parcel select get sorted in specific distribution centers, one of which (in Pittsburg Pennsylvania) had a chemical spill. Because of this packages are delayed or potentially misplaced that we’re going thru the facility at that time. The woman I spoke to told me that and I’m thinking “you’ve got to be kidding me”; what are the odds of that happening while my helmet that I’ve waited over 3 years for is going thru there...hahahaha!

So she recommended I open a missing mail search, and I was ready to do that today, but noticed there was movement on the helmet! Tracking info was updated, and it left the facility in Pittsburg this AM!!!

Idk when it will get to upstate NY, but I am SO relieved!!! Next update will be when I’m holding it!

Your Blaster's Looking Great !!
Since they've reported some movement on your helmet, Hopefully it'll show up in a couple of days !!

You guys and girls, have no idea. NO IDEA how good it feels to finally hold this thing, and see it with my own two eyes!

It’s a thing of beauty. Here of some photos of the physical damage and detailing that’s already been integrated. It’s crazy tho, I look at pictures all the time of the helmet (or various parts of the suit) in other people’s build threads, and have no concept of how big or small these items actually are, hahahaha. The lid is bigger than I expected, but I think the FPII is one of the bigger ones out there.

Lastly, Chris did not include the visor, or dental files. I have real dental files so no biggie, and I guess I’ll pick up the visor on T-Visor, but come on...not looking a gift horse in the mouth or anything, but it’s stuff I paid for...

Oh well!

Where are you at in the helmet build? I primed and sanded, added phsical damage and primed again. I think I am ready for silver but I am following Jayvees thread so I may mask some of the primer layer first (not much a little on the bottom-he calls it his first grey layer).

Absolutely nowhere...hahahaha! My helmet came prepped and primed, and the physical damage was added by Chris (Fettpride). The issue is that the Borden is molded in, and I have a replica from machinecraft. Also, Chris did not send a visor as promised so I had to order one from T-Visor.

I’m actually starting with the gauntlets - have a lot of prep work on those to make all the lights functional, but it’s coming along!

Yeah my bordon was in already too as part of the mold. I just drilled it out and put in the machinecraft one. Look forward to watching everything come togethet

That sounds easy - taking a drill to my lid is a fear I have to get over.

Haven’t focused much on the build cause I’ve been in the midst of what I like to call the “event gauntlet”. Easter, my wife and daughters birthday (both on May the 4th), nurses week (my wife is a nurse), then mother’s day. On top of that I also photograph weddings with my father who is a professional photographer, so this took a back seat for a bit. It’s ok tho, cause the weather here has not been very spring like yet, hahahaha!
