well, with the left earcap done, i have moved up to the killstripes (procrastinating with the mandys...:wacko) got the silver spots done except for the long scratch that comes from the first stripe...need to put the dark grey spot down there first... i have opted to not do the crack detail, since its not in the screen version... next will be to attempt a darker grey for the grey areas as per superjedi's method...:cheers
some pics of the work i have done on the Dent! last time on my mystery lid i got that area with way too much damage...:wacko so this time, after finding the templates in Dookie's stencil thread, i printed them off, and then cut out the dent part of the page...i lined up the dent with the corresponding sides, and then lightly traced with pencil the main damage areas to get an idea of how much damage should be there, and to get the correct direction the damage goes as well...kind of tricky angles to deal with... much better this time around... in the third pic, you can also see that i have traced out the "swoosh" area behind the dent donig the same thing to get the somewhat correct direction and size...i have yet to get to that area, and will do the silver first and then come back with the sp lark dark grey...i am still debating on whether to darken the lark grey with black, or go straight up with that color...i know superjedi darkens it, has anyone left the lark grey alone to the top of the dome? thanks guys!
pleased to say that i have gotten some more done on the dent and swoosh areas...also, have been putting some more detail around the killstripes...i decided to leave the lark dark grey alone and apply it straight up, and i feel it came out pretty well... i am just going with the stencils from the stencil thread, thanks Dookie for those! :cheers i am also using reference photos from superjedi's paintup threads as well...thanks brother!
did someone order mandy's? well, i began some work on the left side, applying the silver so as to have a reference for the other details...this is what i have so far...whew!! :wacko

ok, well now that i HAVE gone crosseyed this afternoon, here are some pics of where i finished up for the day...to begin, from my first attempt of doing a paint up on my mystery lid, i remembered how tough it was to get the spacing down right and have the damage postitioned correctly...:wacko so, i took the distance from the corner of the t-visor out to the middle, and then looked at the distance on the stencil...well, i couldnt get the printer to print out the correct size to match up to my lid, so what i did was to find the center of each the stencil and my lid across the top of the mandible, and then reference the damage on the stencil right at the halfway point...then i just painted in eyeballing the stencil (hence the crosseyed effect ) the damage as i went...i was careful not to do the damage too big like i had done in the past, and i am very happy with my end product so far... i left some of the silver out near the bottom of the mandible, just above the upper cheeck, due to some larger maroon and grey detail that needs to be added first so i dont have too much to paint over the silver... i also took a pic of the left mandy with the sp lark dark grey added in... onto the pics!
