Bobamaker ESB helmet paint-up using Archive-X acrylics

The dry transfers from superjedi arrived on the 23rd, so I managed to apply them, apply some weathering in the form of some Rust spatter, some light Roof Brown spatter (I think I can see some evidence of that in the same area as the Rust), some over all application of a thin wash of Light Earth, and painted the damage on the rangefinder stalk as well as some spatter on the perspex part of the rangefinder.
I can't seem to find any good images of weathering/damage on the rangefinder itself, so I have left it clean for now. I didn't apply a black wash, as I couldn't really see any evidence of that in the reference images of the original helmet (no traces of black paint in recesses).

Oh, and I 3D modeled and printed a new Borden connector in resin, as the one that came with the helmet was a hair smaller than the hole cast into the helmet, so there was a gap all the way around it. I painted it chrome and weathered it with Light Earth.

That's it I guess, the helmet is done before the year is over. Finally!

I'm happy with the result, and I'm looking forward to letting it sit on my shelf and gather dust. Looking forward to getting a break from the helmet, and allowing myself to get some time to be excited to look at it, as now I have been staring at it for so long that I can't enjoy it fully. Looking forward to getting time for other hobby projects which have been put on hold while I have been working on this.

Let me know if there are areas I can improve, and thanks for following along!

Amazing job and thank you for sharing the journey, it has been great to watch the progress.
Doing your own paintjob is super rewarding, you will forget that you did it every now and then and go "Wow, I did this? That's insane"

Enjoy the fruits of your labor for now, you could always add an armor and vest display bust down the road too... (This is how it starts  )

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I already have an RoTJ SE helmet with aluminum hardware by Minutefett waiting to get painted, and also a set of RoTJ armor and gauntlets from him, so a display bust is definitely on the horizon:lol:
So I'll need a vest, neck seal, and jump suit eventually as well...

Soon you'll be trooping in the 501st!
