Bobamaker ESB helmet paint-up using Archive-X acrylics

I've been busy with family life these past few days, but have managed to put in an hour here and there to paint the grey and silver damage on the cheeks.

It's fun to discover things about this helmet while studying the pictures of the original for reference, like remnants of the tan (Light Earth?) wash in the recesses and around the borden connector, and in the "turn signals" and in the "data port"(?) in the black area on the left cheek.

I want to do the dark misting on the bottom edge next, and then start on the damage on the red parts. Looking forward to it!

Finally managed to start on the damage on the red parts.

I spent hours fiddling with the scale of the stencils as the opening for the red around the "keyholes" is a bit shorter vertically, but a bit wider horizontally than the original helmet.
I ended up just going with 98% scale and placing the stencil up to the left as that matched up best with the actual keyholes.

You can see the difference where I compared it to my RoTJ SE cast from Minutefett:

It takes me probably as long to find the right scale for the stencil and transfer all the different layer outlines using graphite paper as it does to paint the actual damage.

Now I'm looking forward to starting on the damage on the red band around the helmet.
