Sr Hunter
Hi all,
I'm in a lull between helmet commissions and I got the urge to build a model. I figured I'd add a Slave I to my collection.
This is the 1/144 scale kit from Bandai. It's packed with super crisp detail and it's very well engineered, like the other Bandai Star Wars kits I've built.
I used 95% Archive-X acrylics, with just a couple of details picked out with Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics.
The main colors for the upper hull were DS Surface Gray and Light Green. Then it was all misted with Dark Grime. The darker panels below the cockpit were done using GN Gray Green.
The wings/stabilizers were based in SP Armour Yellow, then misted with a 50/50 mix of Reefer White and Grime. The bulges or shrouds on the sides of the hull were done in GN Gray Green, misted with Dark Grime.
The underside was also mainly done with DS Surface Gray and Light Green, with a misting of Dark Grime. The engines are Vallejo Leather Brown with chips done with SP Armour Yellow.
The main hull is Boxcar Red with DS Surface Gray and Floquil Polish Crimson. Again, it was all misted with Dark Grime to tone everything down a bit.
As you can see from the shot above, the model is pretty small! I did all the damage and chipping topically with a size 20/0 liner brush.
Finally, here's a shot with the Slave I next to another well known ship owned by a certain scoundrel.
It was a fun build and I'm happy to add a Firespray 31 to my fleet.
Thanks for looking!
