anyone know how to make the colours lighter?

Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to make colours lighter once there on the helmet? I sprayed my rotj helm, but the green is too dark and idea on how to solve this without respraying it?

Not much you can do about it. did you try dullcoating it, sometimes that lightens the color.

no i hadn't got that far, as i didn't want to do that until i finished spraying all of it

I have found lightly sanding with like 400 or higher grit sandpaper lightens it a little, and gives it more of a weathered look.

sanding it didn't work, well it worked a bit but not enough :cry

Looks i'm going to have to re spray it with a more accurate colour

white wash it ! seriously, that helped me. If its too dark, dampen a towel, throw some white paint or lighter pastel color of some sort and white wash it. Being that its green, you might want to try a very light blue, yellow or some other component that makes up green for an even blend.

This may be a stupid question, but what color of green did you use? I used Krylon 'Italian Olive' on this RotJ bucket and I thought it came out pretty good. Being in the UK I don't know if you get Krylon brand spraypaints though.

I have seen these done a few times and not sure how well it will work for you . Insted of using sandpaper use a dish pad. You know the greenish looking ones that are fairly thin, sometimes they have a sponge on the other side. Use it in the same manor as the sand paper. It would not hurt to try and let me know how it works.

Earpick - Scotchbrite pads. That is one brand name for them. I used them on the last bucket I painted and weathered the silver down...It looked really nice afterwards.

as far as i'm aware we can't get krylon paints in the U.K, (some please let me know if I'm wrong!) I'll have to investigate see if i could order any on-line

I wouldn't do a "white" wash, but mix a lighter colour of green by hand, an then rub that on (like what a few people said before, just grab a towel an wash it on) ... should work, it did for my jet pack when it came out way to dark because of to much black misting.

The color of the kill stripes is...Plain Ol' Orange

Does anyone know a U.K equivilent of the KRYLON Italian olive ?? prefer plastikote or Tamiya spray cans.
