Well thanks to the 'amazing' british weather I only managed to get the 1st coat of white down and now its pretty dark outside so I will just have to carry this on tomorrow before I start work, enjoy

So the weather picked up a little today and I managed to get a further 2 coats of the gloss white down, here it is now sitting outiside drying, In a few hours once I am happy the paint has cured I will lay down the masking for the 501st blue mohawk strip

Ok so I got down the masking tape for the mohawk stripe, it follows an odd contour around the back of the helmet which was quite tricky to line up by eye I used 5mm masking tape to get the over all line as good as I could and then covered the rest of the helmet with newspaper and went about spraying on the 501st blue

The money shot I am currently working on painting the frown and the other small details which I believe should be hand painted to hold true to the original stormtrooper helmets which had hand painted details

Weathering is definitely an art. I used a dremel with wire brush tip to create some light skid marks on my Airborne bucket.

Stop everything!! After consulting with the helmets owner we both decided this helmet should be done layered, so I stripped it down and started again, he like me is a stickler for detail and after all these helmets should look like they have been through the (clone) wars, so I sanded it down and blasted it with the gloss white again, then I started masking off for the damage, I used masking fluid as I had previously used on my last ESB boba fett helmet, I applied the fluid and set the helmet aside for half an hour then applied the same 501st blue that I had previously used, here are a few more before and after shots, next on to the fine detailing

Ok well here she is after saturdays work, not bad for a days efforts, will pick her up again tomorrow for more weathering and finishing off the finer details

Here are the early stages of weathering, here I have started the front right and back left quarters, what I did was lay down small marks with black acrylic paint to represent the 'core' of the damage then I lightly add dark brown and black pastel shades and very gently rub it into the paintwork, what this does is allow the pastel to work into the paint creating a murky effect, then I lightly rub over with wire wool to get the blend right, these affects are much more apparent in person than in a picture but I hope these photos show what I'm on about
