️ Budget Jango Build – Looking for Used Parts, Trade, or DIY Wisdom

Hey all —
First-time poster, long-time Fett fan. I'm currently looking to build a 501st-approvable Jango Fett on a pretty tight budget (think diapers-first, durasteel-later kind of budget). I've got most of the hard armor 3D printed — chest, back, gauntlets, knees, thighs, even the WESTARs. I'm still looking to finish off the soft parts and a few remaining items. I just finished printing most of that on my friend's 3D Printer)

So here's the deal:
Looking to buy/trade for any used or extra Jango gear you’ve got lying around — especially:

  • Flak vest
  • Girth belt
  • Ammo belt + holsters
  • Jetpack harness
  • Helmet (big noggin — 24.5-25" circumference!)
  • Gloves
  • Jetpack (I’ll 3D print one if I must, but open to old kits too)

Also looking for DIY tips — if you've done clever budget builds for your girth belt, jetpack, vest, etc., I’m all ears. Already planning to dye a thrifted flight suit and cobble together the belts from vinyl or braid, but open to anything that’s worked for others and passed GML scrutiny.

I’m here to learn, swap, and eventually troop with the best of you. Appreciate this community already!

Cheers and thanks in advance,!

I was in your same boat lol. I tried the 3D printing for a while then upgraded to cold cast through boba maker.

This jango is one of those builds where it just cost a lot.

As for a DIY here is the jetpack harness. Mine was $20 off Amazon. I riveted straps by the shoulders and attached buckles on them. This would only save you about $80-100.

Hey thanks man, I will have to get this! What was your build? One of the Fetts or who?

I did a very similar thing to make my jetpack harness, used a 20 dollar "posture harness" off of amazon. I just attached nylon straps with the correct buckles to the top of the shoulders, and added waist and chest straps to help support the jetpack. Very easy to make, comfortable and not a lot of $.

Also, your 3D printed armor should be just fine. I recommend using a resin sealer to get rid of print lines. Prime and Fill spray paint can work but is a pain and takes a lot of sanding.

After the armor is ready, a coat of primer and then some rub'n buff will make it look nearly as good as cold cast. I used cold cast on my build but have done a backup set of blasters with Rub'n Buff, and that stuff works wonders. It rubs off over time but is easy enough to apply again for touch ups.

What ever you decide, just make sure it’s comfortable. Besides the shoes this is one of the most important parts. Unfortunately, jango has several layers with thick black leather vest. It can get really hot and really tight. So make sure you keep that in the back of your head.

Support wise mine works awesome. My MOW jetpack is very heavy. So just make sure yours is comfortable. Although yours should be fine if your 3-D printing the jetpack.

I started off as jaster mereel because I didn’t want to do a boba or din build. (that’s literally all you see at cons) After I 3-D printed everything I decided to go jango because there’s more source material and casuals can actually identify him. I’m very glad I made that choice. Should be a fun project for you.

You said it perfectly - Jango is in the perfect happy medium of being rare but also recognizable. I agree it's super fun to wear to cons! TheViceroy you are going to love it :) Looking forward to seeing your progress.
