Superjedi's FPH2 for Refugee

Lots of real life stuff going on this weekend so didn't have a lot of Fett time. But I finished a portion of the brow area.

I'll start working on the right section during the week. Getting psyched for the mandibles!

Glad you're enjoying the progress. :) I have done some "boring" steps that I didn't take pics of.
I got the ear parts base coated. I like to let them dry for several days before I tape them off for
the black and white arches.

LOL! Yes, Threepio has decided to get in on the action. He makes another appearance in the next pics too . . .

The left mandible is finished now. :) This was done over several sessions. Here are a couple of angles.

I have done the stencils for the right mandible and did a small amount of the silver already. I'll continue working on that this weekend.

Eric, buddy, you never cease to amaze...
I live for the moment we can finally do business together on my very own ESB bucket one day. This is a child's dream come true!! Someone is a very lucky Fett to get one of these done ;)

Thanks, man! :)

When I work on the right mandible, I generally break it up into 2 sections--the horizontal part, and the vertical part.
I've gotten the horizontal part finished. This has the most detail and it takes several passes with each of the colors
to get all those tiny chips and scratches. Here are a couple of angles.

I'll work on laying in the gray on the vertical part next, then start adding the silver and maroon/purple.

Thanks, guys. :)

The right mandible is finally done! Woo hoo! I completed the lower, vertical portion. Here are a couple of views.

The mandible concludes all the "basic" painting on the helmet itself (still have the ears to do), and I had some time to begin some of
the effects painting. I began with the fade under the killstripes. I mix up some acrylic silver with my dome weathering mixture and apply
it with a fine brush. In this next pic, it barely registers at all.

However, when the light catches it, it shows up nicely.

There are several more stages to the effects painting, and I'm not sure which I'll tackle next. There's the pale contrasting gray, the white thumbprints,
the killstripe overspray, and some pastel weathering and grease stains. We're getting closer though!

More effects painting today. :)
I worked on the pale contrasting gray and the white thumbprints. The gray is most noticeable in the big scrape on the
right rear panel, although there is more scattered all over the helmet. Here are a couple of shots. First, the rear.

I have to get the helmet into some odd positions to catch the contrast on these.
Next is the right mandible. There's a bit of the gray in the area above the visor cutout, and some that follows the curve of the
mandible on the dividing line between the mandible and the dark outer cheek.

The dent has some fine gray scratches and chips, too. It's tricky to photograph without blowing out the silver, but here are a couple of angles.

Next are the white thumbprints. Just some plain ol' Tamiya flat white here.

I have also masked and airbrushed the white arch on the left ear. I'll begin ear detailing over the next couple of days.

Eric, wonderful job so far. I really like how everything is coming together. It's like a wonderland of intricate detail, especially that dent :). That thumb print looks good. Such an interesting quirky detail that the ESB helmet has. The mandibles looks awesome too! Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see this in person

Thanks, guys! Closer and closer. . . .
More ear work over the past couple of days. I got the lower RF ear piece done.

The upper ear base is done, too. But it's boring so I didn't take any pics, lol.
I've begun to apply the dry transfer markings as well. Here's the "DV" symbol.

This is the lower angled face.

The left ear is finished, too. The "EE" marking has been applied.

Here's the lower face of this piece.

I'll work on the RF ear cap this weekend, then start on the rangefinder assembly.
