I've not got a lot either. We'll see how long it is before I get around to trying it and then how well it works but my plan is this:
I'll build a slide space under my gaunt for the blade to be stored in that will be much like the slide/bolt of the camber of semi-automatic rifle, so that my gaunt will have small bolt and a small tract on the side of it. The blade will either be pulled or pushed by a spring (I have yet to decide which I think will be easier) and will lock into both the extended and retracted positions.
I'll run a cable under the gaunt and into my glove anchored at my knuckle so that when I roll my hand forward/down (like you would when letting off the gas on a motorcycle) and force it till it almost hurts, the cable will be stretched out and pull the release for the bolt/blade.
After the blade/bolt springs forward it will lock in place. I'll have an external button on the gaunt, much like the lever-lock system on the back of most pocket knives, that will unlock the blade allowing me to pull the external bolt, and internal slide assembly, backward into the locked storage position.
Follow that? Any advice from Aden or others as to how well this slide system (I know others have tried it) works?
