*SPOILERS* The Book of Boba Fett Discussion

I think that's exactly what they are going for... I think they wanted to portray him as someone who didn't want to fight anymore.

Jabba hired him to get Solo. A simple job ended up getting him tangled up with Vader and the Rebellion. He ended up nearly dying for some stupid guy frozen in a block and he's done with it all.

He goes back to Jabba's to get his ship, and possibly discovered at that point that Jabba died. He then decides that all this happened because he was working for the slug, so he might as well take his payment owed. At that point he planned to do what Jabba did... hang out around the palace, let other people do the grunt work, and just relax.

As all these problems start to happen, he keeps trying to NOT get involved. He's not walking around like a human arsenal because he wants to be seen as a person, not a cold blooded killer.

But... time and time again this fails to work out for him, leaving him no choice but to get back in the ring one last time.

It's not the Boba story a lot of people wanted, but they already told parts of that story with Din and Cobb. It isn't what I would have written for sure, but here we are.
But see - your synopsis is 1000 times better than what we’ve actually seen on screen. That’s a problem.

Whatever they were “going for” they haven’t pulled it off.

Disney should hire me then! I'll be the Retroactive Continuity Publication department. I'll post up convoluted explanations of weird storytelling choices. Just wait til you see the mental gymnastics I have pulled off to like Rise of Skywalker!!

Amazing lol

I still can't get over the fact that Temura is literally on record saying he didn't want to do a lot of what he had to do for the show because he didn't feel like it would be things Boba would do. Makes me wonder if he also wants to wear the helmet more but the producers said no. INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW! - Inquiring minds are also now slightly depressed haha

Very solid point! One of the things I dont like about this thread is the bashing of Temuera. He just doesnt deserve being treated like that - incredibly friendly, excited and humble man, really connecting with the fans and embracing Star Wars. I know this has nothing to do with his acting performance, but still, he doesnt deserve to be treated like was apparent in this thread.
When it comes to acting... We shouldnt discard his performance as Jango - a lot more like Ive envisioned a "helmet off Boba". Or his performance in Mando - much more in line with how Boba should be.
Id be really surprised if any questionable stuff is on him.

We also shouldnt forget his dedication in the voice acting department - thats acting, too. And even if I get, that a lot of people prefer the OT Fett lines in the extremely rough original voice, his voice acting for the Special Editions was really good. As was his voice acting for Republic Commando and the like.

See that's conflicting information, as its been reported that its Tem that preferred all this Helmet off action? (I'm sure it was in a magazine spread and interview) You don't know who or what to believe!

Lets be honest, if you are a true Boba Fett fan, what have you enjoyed about this Boba show? The Tragedy was awesome, he got his armour back, kicked butt, and although larger than I would have liked was still very cool and I was proud to be a fan and REALLY looking forward to BOBF. I am now paying for a Disney channel once again, for which NOTHING else interests me!

That in turn brings me on to another annoyance, that I'm paying for a Boba Fett show, and he has not been in it for nearly half the time, and when he has, its not been the Boba Fett I know, love and recognize!

Its false advertising, and I have been duped !

Not really sure what you mean by this or why you’ve brought it up?

No one has criticised him as a person at all in this thread. It’s all been pretty lighthearted jabs and any serious criticism towards him has been with regards to his acting. The man’s job involves putting himself in front of millions of people, he’s not a child we have to clap, pat on the back and say “well done!” Just for turning up. The criticism is warranted, his performance in BoBF has been bad.

It doesn’t matter what he’s done in other projects, this is a Boba Fett forum and this is a Book of Boba Fett thread.

I have to agree, for me he has been a big reason in why Boba does NOT look or act the part.

I thought Cobb Vanth was better, and acting wise, I love the expression on his face after his deputy came back out and said "the Marshall isn't for sale" Quality!

I definitely feel like Vanth isn't dead but I would agree. Vanth also is written more like Boba Fett than Boba Fett is in this show. Which is so bizarre. With Boba Fett wanting to "settle down" and have a family - he should really want to be more the benevolent protector of Mos Espa as opposed to wanting to run a crime syndicate with the motives that the show has presented. He should have been turning Jabba's palace into the hub of Mos Espa justice and set himself up as the marshal. That's essentially how he is acting - not a crime boss.

Didn't Boba take money to look after the Sanctuary, another Boba Balls up!

I think it's pretty clear that the showrunners had started writing season 3 of mando, and that with the ending of s2 they had to figure out how to get mando and grogu back together "off screen". They wanted to hit you with that emotional cliffhanger, but they also knew that normies wouldn't be interested in the show without grogu. Enter Boba Fett, he is the vehicle to tell the reunion story between seasons. The end of the story was the reunion, everything else filler. That's why everything feels disjointed and out of character, they had to use existing thematic elements and force the story to fit. We know jabba's palace, thus boba wants that, so now he's a crime boss because that's what jabba was. It's a SW paint by numbers and it ends with the reunion or at least the set up for it. Fett's motivations were always irrelevant and that's why none of it makes sense and why the non Fett stories have been so much better.

Unfortunately.

This

This garbage is just a repurposed CW arc.. thats literally been its entire goal is this stupid duel…
Ugh
Thats why Boba has zero character motivation.. or even any real main story development…. Destination Nowhere’s end goal is this stupid standoff and Mando S3, and Nothing else matters.. classic Filoni

Ok, wait...I've only just watched this clip - this isn't from an actual episode, surely? Tell me this is just like a pre-production storyboard sequence or something

Do you know what - the more I read fans and even people that are not fans but just understand the character, and say things like "why does he keep taking his helmet off to show an old man" the more I get angry! Its just outrageous what Disney, its producers and Morrison have done with the Book of Boba Fett.

They really should hang there heads in shame.

Best episode, 90% helmet on, but still don't understand the difference of the way Boba fought in the Tragedy to how he fought here, it felt like a completely difference Boba, he was slow and clumsy in this episode.

But at least he got to do some killing, and fire his blaster, and Of course he had to come out riding a Rancor as well, not sure on that bit!

Cad Bane was uber cool (I must build a full size Cad to add to my collection) but why did he have to chat? just kill! typical writing! Hope he is not dead but did notice the life support still working! fingers crossed.

I'm glad it didn't have all that Luke stuff, that was boring, slow and its about Boba Fett.

It sort of brought back Boba is cool, but no where near cool enough!

Overall disappointed in the show, really did not need to bother, glad its over so I can cancel my subscription. Really don't like Disney!

The last half of this show was... fine? The first half was completely dreadful. Considering the second half of the show, fett made a cameo in one episode and didn't appear in the other says a lot.
Honestly I just hated everything involving the tuskans. Stockholm syndrome Boba Fett makes absolutely no sense for the character.
Cad was right. Boba really did go soft. I kept waiting to show he's as ruthless as ever and it just never came.
I just don't know how they hyped up the ending to this show like we'd shed tears and clap like the Mando season 2 finale. What were the people involved referring to when they made those statements? Because there wasn't really anything noteworthy about this series at all.
The duel was somehow worse than the incomplete clone wars clip with the young boba duel. He got his ass beat and won to be quite fair. By cheating. A complete surprise attack in a duel of skill. Who the hell has a western duel with a rifle anyways? He has a sidearm for a reason.
All things considered, I think they should've left him in the pit. There was too much damage done already.
I hate to completely trash on the show. But I can't give this any higher than a 3.5/10. 7 weeks. 7 episodes. Not one second in those 4 or so hours did I even smirk with happiness.
I came into this expecting to be grinning ear to ear for my favorite character in literally any form of media.
I just don't think it's fair to change an established character's personality and blame it on his "old age".
Also. What's up with making him a complete buffoon? Did he make any decisions for himself in the entire series? Like... one?
I'm almost certain he was told what to do in every decision to be made.
How did we go from the man who could hunt anybody in the galaxy down to this guy who probably couldn't find a snowflake on hoth with a magnifying glass?
The man aged like 5 years since rotj. Just because the actor playing him is in his 60s, doesn't mean the character is too.
Did they not learn their lesson from Luke in the sequel trilogy?
I don't hate Morrison. I really don't. But he's not Boba Fett. He never will be boba fett. When I see his face. I'll always think of Jango. Yeah yeah. Clones. Whatever. I just don't think Morrison can pull off that personality. He can't act like a cowboy like fett was depicted and based off of in the OT.
Sorry for the long post. This is 7 weeks worth of disappointment pouring out.
Who knew attack of the clones would turn out to be a 20 year ticking time bomb that would destroy our favorite character?

Agree with everything. Morrison is not my Fett, he doesn’t get the character at all. I don’t think anyone involved does.

This was a finale!? REALLY?! This would’ve been a solid 6 out of 10 filler episode in Mando.

As you say, every decision was made by someone else. What made me laugh was at the end, after all that, and constantly whining about not being respected he complains that doesn’t like people bowing to him (aka showing respect)!? and says to Fennec “we’re not made for this” FFS. The writing is just god awful beyond reproach.

The “action” went on for far too long, the pacing was weird. Lots just didn’t make sense again. Consider these lines were all in the same episode:

“These are my people”

“Mos Espa is my town”

“the locals are attacking”

The locals? What? WHY?!

I know the duel with Fett & Cad Bane will have the Clone War fanboys splurging in their pants but I was disappointed to see Boba get his butt handed to him AGAIN and only win by cheating as you say.

Oh man. Such a bad show overall. Should never have been made.

Why didn't we get a flashback to Cad giving Fett the dent in the helmet? I know it didn't actually air in the CW but it feels like it would've been a great flashback during their duel. They did multiple Kamino flashbacks to young Fett with absolutely no payoff. This show's writing, acting, directing and production are an all-time head scratcher. This is what you put into an iconic Star Wars character's solo show? My head canon ends with him on the throne after offing Fortuna in the Mando S2 post-credit scene...
