Spicy fett ESB WIP

Advice is that the helmet is NOT a quick process. Take your time with it. If you start to get frustrated, take a break. ;) I’m excited to see how yours turns out!

-Iron

Oh I’m definitely going to take my time for sure but that’s great advice! I’ve looked at your WIP and it looks amazing you’ve done a great job!

If you don’t mind my asking, what did you end up doing on that end?

-Iron
For the helmet install I ended up using these 3D printed clips I got on Etsy and they seem to have worked alright it was a hassle to get them in place but it worked well enough that my visor does stay in place! Honestly looking back I should have went with the Chicago screws and did it similar to what bobamaker does but I could always change it later down the road

Nothing like trying to dye a girth belt on a Saturday night! Let me tell you dying these acrylic fiber belts was no easy task and I’m praying this color is at least somewhat accurate lol

I think the belt is going to work! It took the stain pretty well I also uploaded a picture of the color I used! My wife helped me find a color that worked well with the 501st Pantone color they had so we’ll see here in the next day or so if this is going to work!

It’s pretty awesome when you go back over after the paint has dried with 0000 steel wool how it wears it down and makes it all flow nice and even

Alright guys back panels are finished about to move on and work on the red trim on the back of the helmet I think it will look a lot better offer the helmet is done and I do a few washes on it to weather it a bit! All of this was free handed I didn’t use any stencils except for the first part of the damage with my first layer so I’m pretty proud of myself hahaha not 100% movie accurate but hey I tried my best!

I will say anyone who is wanting to paint their own helmet but is scared to get started because it’s super overwhelming just give it a shot it’s not as hard as it looks and when it’s all said and done you can say you did it!! It’s a wonderful feeling I couldn’t have done it without the support of the dented helmet!!

Well said, honestly I was incredibly nervous about painting up the Boba Maker Helmet I have. But after I got started it really wasn’t as hard as I thought. And I only had two weeks to do it. (Under a time crunch for Halloween) I even messed up on it too, with the sealant spray and screwed up my work. I pressed on and it was fine.

My intention now is to strip it and go at it again. But this time around being super meticulous. I’m gonna do up my Don Post First I think and then do my Boba Maker. Just waiting for the holidays to be over.

I'll just throw out a thought or two about painting your own helmet. TDH has everything you need to understand
helmet painting. You can find stencils, paint color charts, paint brands different members have used, and a huge amount
of reference material and other inspiration to work from and do it yourself. The helmet is divided into sections. Each with its own identity
which breaks down the overall complex look into manageable smaller areas to work on. The real trick is to not be in a rush
to get done. Plan and study ahead. It's kind of like paint by numbers when you think about it. Impatience is your only enemy.
Have fun....This is the way
