Definitely going to follow the progress on this. I need to get my boots setup and ready as well.Working on the base coat on the boots today.View attachment 247968
Your comments and kind words make me want to start over.....again hahahahaFor a first cut I think it looks great. Once you do the spot fills with the aluminum powder, I think the only things left would be detail work. The bigger comments I would would likely be fixed when you work some of the finer details. My comments would be:
1. The ridge on top of the visor isn't well defined. It looks a little rounded vice having a sharp edge. It looks like you have enough material thickness left that this could just be some careful grinding or possibly dremel work if you have the right tip. Painting could also help to give it more contrast.
2. The inner "dent" on the mandibles isn't well defined, the blends are too smooth. Same thing with the top ridge, some grinding/dremeling could likely make the blend more distinct. Again, painting would likely highlight the difference as well.
3. Its hard to tell when its laying down, but does it have the correct slope across the bottom? The back should be higher on the collar than the front. It may just be the camera angles though as it does obviously lean back when laying flat. I don't have a helmet in hand to compare it to though.
I think once you fill in the gaps and minor cracks and then smooth everything over and fill out some detail its going to look amazing.
I don't know how much work some of the various things take so I'd leave that decision up to you. I think it would be worth taking at least a little further, even maybe a base coat of paint to see where you may need to adjust your build earlier in the process. You could restart now and fix a few things only to paint it and realize there were other things that needed to be addressed. Even a quick coat of paint, with some though on how you'd mount the ears and RF stalk may reveal some things you should do earlier. Just my 2 cents, but I usually try to take things as far as I can and note where I could have done better throughout, then start over. Either way, looks like it will be an amazing build once you're done and happy.Your comments and kind words make me want to start over.....again hahahaha
I think it looks much better. I think those details will stand out a lot more when the paint gets added too.Alright I did some work today. I flattened the cheeks which helped considerably! Chiseled more of the cheekbones and the ridge that runs around the top. What do ya think now!?
