RS ROTJ build

Started working with the stencils from the Silhouette machine. I'm quite pleased. A big learning curve but I'm getting the hang of it. After the stencil is cut I cut it into smaller pieces to make it more manageable and bend to the curve of the armor. Here are some picks of the process of the yellow. Again. Pleased with the results.

Put the silver down on my chest armor. Stencils are working great. Just some small touch up and I'm ready to dirty it all up.
Think I'll throw down a sealer before I do.

Been working a bit today on the Fett. I have to say this Silhouette machine is worth its wieght in gold. Been making stencils like a champ. Find the chest crest today. Pretty happy with it. A little touch up had to to be done but otherwise A ok.

Finally made the most complex stencil yet. The way the templates are done the light grey and dark grey on the rear helmet plates are separate. I wanted to do the fade with my airbrush. In the Silhouette program I was able to merge the two templates and make it one. I bit of tedious cleanup but it made all the difference. So stoked the way it all came out. Here are pics of the stencils applied to the rear helmet plates.

And here is the fade after painting. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Just a quick update. Done stenciling the chest armor and the back of the bucket. So happy with the results. I still need to dirty it up with a black wash and chalk or colored pencils for surface scratches and smudging.

Officially purchased my final piece for the Fett. Ordered a US Divers buckle this morning off of eBay. A bit priced on the higher side but I just wanted to be done. That and the money went toward a diving museum where they are coming from. Ordered cape, girth belt, and real hair wookie braids from Woody. Still waiting on knee darts, boot spikes and shin tools from RS. Should be shipped next week. The way it's rolling I might have this done by Christmas. I'd like to get a few troops in before Celebration so that works for me.

Been working on the armor weathering. Stencil cutter still going strong. Been going through a lot of the stencil material but it's cheap on Amazon. 6-4ft rolls for $25. Did the Krayt Dragon On the shoulder bell with the stencils also. Super happy with the results. Came out crisp. Just need to put some of the light green weathering on a few spots and the armor painting is done. I'm going to seal everything with clear coat before doing the dirt and grime weathering. What is the final sheen supposed to be if anyone knows? I was thinking semi-gloss.

Excellent paint work, and the dragon looks awesome! As far as the clear coat, I used matte for the final coat, as even a semi-gloss coat on the "dirty"armor didn't seem right.

Great. Thanks. Nice thing about clear coat is if it goes to far one way or the other you can always put a dull or shiny coat back on it.

Yes, matte finish at the most. I'm actually on the lookout for something less shiny for my ESB. I spotted some "dead flat" clear coat the other day I might try out. Most of my paints are satin, so anything I can do to dull it down sheen-wise is good. But, it dulls the silver damage a lot so I re-touch it with silver paint pen to bring back the silver glimmer in the damaged areas.

Great pics of your progress. Can't wait to see more!!!

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments. I figured the silver would get dulled down. Good idea with the paint pen.

Been quiet but still working on Fett. Lots of little things that weren't picture worthy. Finished the bottom half of the bucket. Really happy with it. Gonna start tackling the top in the next day or so. Started looking at doing the jet pack. Gonna have to go freehand now that there isn't any decent paint stencils made for it. Found a couple things that I may be able to digitize into a stencil but not sure how worth it it will be. Any how. Here are pics of the bucket so far.

Still been working hard at the bucket. Got all the stenciling done. Now I just have to go in any touch up small details with the brush. Feels good to finally be done with the stencils. It's a lot of work. Was getting sick of masking but the end result when you pull it off is worth it. Here are the pics of all four sides.
