ROTJ Helmet - Micro Mega Dental File

Hello fellow Fett's,
Just a question on the two little red Micro Mega Dental Files on the ROTJ Helmet. There is a little rubber nubbin on them and I wondered if this should be removed prior to installation?

That was my assessment as well while browsing the Media Files here, but was just looking for some 2nd opinions.
