My ROTJ Fett journey began early 2018 with a helmet kit from RS Propmasters.

This was followed soon after with a blaster from AprilStormProps, RS Propmasters Gauntlets and a Man of War Jetpack.

I had no idea of the rabbit hole I had just fallen into. I initially tried to do everything extremely cheap. Making the armour out of foamex board. Using a £25 siphon airbrush. Hadn’t used an airbrush since college almost 14 years prior.

I got a certain way through the build and then stopped.

When I started I wasn’t paying any close attention to damage patterns.

I started off with Humbrol paints as they were easily available at a nearby hobby store.

My colour choices were completely wrong.

In the end everything ended up too cartoonish. I kept persevering though.

I was not happy with anything. As I used the airbrush more and more my mojo started to come back a bit. Still took a while get momentum though.

Invested in some ABS armour for my next phase. Armour kit came from RS Propmasters.

This time around I used Tamiya X-65 acrylic bottles. Although loads better than before I still didn’t like it too much.

Stumbled upon the Archive-X Facebook group after spending loads on Humbrol, Mr Color and Tamiya paints. This was a turning point for me.

BUT then May 25th 2019 my son was born. Everything was put on hold again for a while.

Congrats on you becoming a father. Also looks good so far! I know how the paint can make you put stuff away for a while. Welcome back.

Late summer 2019 I bought a decent airbrush and compressor.

I bought a load of Archive-X as I’m also into scale models. The guys there are very helpful too and masters of their craft.

Got myself a FPH2 and some metal ears and borden from MCR. This is the phase I’m still currently in. All Archive-X apart from the metallics.

I get limited time, but I’m working on it almost everyday.

Helmet is still not complete as I got a 2nd set of RS armour on Black Friday. Also started fresh on the gauntlets and jetpack. Pics to follow.

2nd set of shoulders with modified right shoulder and left knee. Decal from Funkyred.

Archive-X is all layered. This looked too bright to me, it was nowhere near this bright though iPhone camera has a habit of over saturation.

Darkened it down a tad on my most recent pass with the airbrush.

Woodman braids and cape arrived.

As I was starting over in the jetpack I thought I’d add some more MCR parts. Nice!

Complete overhaul on the jetpack and new EE-3 from Sidewinder.

Got a new vest from Bobamaker. Gloves to follow. Lightened up the jumpsuit and then weathered using Dirty Down. The jumpsuit is the piece dragging this build down the most. I have a new one on order from Clothears. Can’t wait.

Archive-X Tuscan was the main colour used for the gauntlets. This is a repainted RS Propmasters gauntlet. Fibreglass top on the left gauntlet

For the right gauntlet I changed the darts for some supplied by a UK maker call The Aluminium Falcon. Hoses are weathered using leather dye.

Armour attached via the accurate grommet method this time compared to the clutchback pins before. Way more solid with the grommet method. Fettronic’s lights added to chest plate.

Vest needs some weathering. Girth has been dyed and I need to sew the straps. This ammo belt is vinyl and needs some weathering too.

RS Propmasters ANH Stunt Stormtrooper on the left.

Machinecraft Replicas copper coned gauntlet rocket. Noice!

Got some Man of War gauntlets on the go too. Fettpride gauntlets on the way from Minutefett. Don’t know which ones I’ll settle for. My forearms are bigger than I thought. These all fit, but I’d rather have just a little more space and pad it out with comfy foam.
