Re-doing chest armour...help!?!

Hi yah guys, im gunna re-do my chest armour cos its small and my helmet is big so it makes me look a bit silly...

Im gunna use sintra/foamalux/forex....but before I used the oven and a small hairdryer to do the forming...but it left parts of the armour kinda deformed...also cos im a girl I need a little room for things which go under the chest armour...though they are not large...they still need space.

I was just hoping some one could tell me the best way to bend it ..also what is the right shape.....does it need much bending for accurate looking armour, I really want my costume looking good for celebration europe!!

I believe women usually trim the left and right breast plate and have a larger stomach plate to hide the "extras" under the armour. Maybe you could PM Mirax H, she might be a good help for you!

I like using a small kerosene heater to heat the parts up and bend them to shape. It nice because you can wear gloves and do the bending while the heat it still being applied. It works like a charm.

I've heard of a few different ways of forming it:
-over a pot of boiling water
-using a heat gun (used for sealing the coverings on RC airplanes)
-even vac forming


where do people get their sintra from?
i've looked all over and cant find a good supplier with a decent price.

Depends where you are....and what its called...over here (uk) its called foamalux or foamed pvc but in the us its called sintra. If you look around you can get it from companies which make signs...as thats what its best for. I got mine off e-bay from a german company because it was cheeper than any others I had looked at, and they were really nice...but just depends on hwere you are.

I used a mixture of boiling water, heating in the oven...small hairdryer....it was just very hard cos if your trying to bend it to the shape of you then its best to use yourself as a template....but its hard when your the only one molding the backplate!!!
