Hello, I know Boba Fett is a very expensive costume and was wondering how possible it would to build a Boba Fett ROTJ costume for around $2,000 within a few months but still remain high quality? Any info is appreciated. Thanks
As mean as this will sound, the answer is pretty much no. Building one within a few months with an unlimited budget is tough enough. It would be tough to get all the parts for a high quality build for $2k .
If you were a pro seamstress/tailor and could paint....you still would be hard pressed to get the armor helmet and jetpack and boots (things you cant make yourself easily) and then all the materials for all the other stuff....for less then that.
If you have a few months break from work or school you probably could get it completed, as far as cost goes...$2000 is probably a bit low.
ROTJ has fewer parts than ESB so you'd "save" doing that version. Hell, if you think you can do it, go for it!
If you're lucky and are able to get all parts within a couple months, you still have to paint, weather, and assemble everything. If you have someone else do the painting, you're looking at ~5k, and it will take longer than a couple months.
The price does not have to only be $2,000 ...I can go above that but obviously prefer to stay as low as possible as I'm sure a lot of you do as well, even around $2,500 or so would be ok. I can paint as long as I have guides and good resources which I know are out there (its just finding them at this point). Im striving for 501st spec while at the same time trying to see what vendors are out there that do not have super long wait times but still sell high quality products (hard armor / soft parts). As of right now I'm basically looking for vendors to purchase parts from that do not have long wait times so I can start stocking up on everything I need (raw unpainted parts). Any help you guys provide is truly appreciated, I'm new to the Boba side of things and I am currently in the "gathering information and knowledge stage".
Here is my quick list without the vendors names:
Flight Suit: 180
Boots : 190
Jetpack : $350
Vest/Neck Seal : 165
Spikes : $55
Jetpack Harness: $185
Helmet : $200 ( mine was cheap cause it is resin expect $300+)
Chest Electronics: $65
Buckle/Clips : $110
Gloves : $100
Belt : $280
Gauntlets: $250
Armor/Knees :$670
----
That is $2800 without gun, girth belt, using all cast not metal trim pieces, cape , shin tools and Im sure other stuff. I just had my spreadsheet open to throw up numbers. I left the names off as my stuff is 1-2 years old and prices have gone up. This is all unassembled/unpainted parts. I would think closer to $3500 for parts alone to start. As pointed out before you can save a ton by making/painting your own stuff but unless you are extremely talented in multiple aspects of building you will still need to buy stuff. If you seriously want to build one and relatively cheap/ quick, I would try and buy prepainted stuff from the cargo hold. It will require time/patience and quickness. ROTJ stuff doesn't come up for sale as much as ESB. Even used completed sets go for at least $4k and usually higher.

Fett isnt a cheap build. None of this is meant to discourage you, if anything it is meant to do just the opposite. You can always join the Mercs and build your own custom Mando for much less and enjoy trooping with their group. Often they attend the same events as the 501st.
I'm building a esb right now and as of when I ordered Arkady was 3 months out all soft parts and rkd quoted 2 weeks armor and woodman 4-6 weeks for ammo belt braids cape and he does girth belts and all that comes pretty close to 1500 minus gauntlets I got mow and that's another 300 it adds up quick but I'm having the goal of September to have it done only thing I need to find is boots but just for a current idea on a time frame on just getting stuff in
Once I have gained full membership, I will be selling a whole bunch of high quality ROTJ pieces at used prices. Tons of Bobamaker Armor and Helmet. BM is regarded as top quality. This could be a great way to kick start your Fett.
Feel free to PM me for more info. Hoping to post in the cargo hold soon! 40 more posts to go before I can...
