So I was doing some research and had a thought while looking at this image
IMG_2022.JPG

the cape imo looks more wool like in appearance. This made me think could it have been a blanket and more specifically a military blanket . A few different searches on google led me to this image , take note of the blanket in the top right corner IMG_5478.JPG

Information is a bit patchy in the article it was posted in , and it isn't specifically named however it's could be from the Spanish American civil war or 1904 military issue or maybe a WW1 issue military blanket .

thoughts anyone ?

We've discussed this idea before and it probably is some sort of blanket. I looked through a load looking for one a while ago. The newer MOW capes are like blankets.

It very well could have been, and we have discussed this at length a few years ago. http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=48912

It is undoubtedly wool in my opinion.

But I believe we decided that the blankets seemed too thick and it was more likely some sort of suiting wool.

There are so many different variations of blankets unless there is a small thin one with an ugly painted stripe and a hem... :)

1942 WW2 US Army trapper blanket... close enough LOL

That's it!!!! I guess I'm going to have to scower the internet to find a 1942 WW2 Army Trapper Blanket! Did you dye the stripe on or did it already have the stripe on it?

Found a few variations on ebay of the trapper blanket...some made in the UK and some in Canada...opted to try one from the UK and one from CA I think? @Wasteland is diving in to see if either are good for the cape or not!
