It's my understanding that some countries that have 501st Garrisons have strict gun laws. Even prop guns.

weapons are considered to be "optional" for all costumes in the 501st for the reasons Skypig stated.

You could make one using plastic or cardboard and the various templates on this site. That's my plan, haven't started yet.
