Man of War ROTJ girth belt

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to tone down the bright red MOW girth belt to the appropriate hue for ROTJ?

Hi Steveboski - I was curious if you ever found an answer to your question? (Toning down the Bright Red) I was looking to also purchase from MoW and found the pic he uses on his website to also be a bit brighter than normal, sadly, it sounds like it is.

The MOW girth belt is high quality but really bright red. I never received any feedback on this question, but I ended just winging it to tone it down. I used a combination of acrylic washes with blacks/grays, hitting it with gravel to dirty it up, and using a tamiya weathering kit.
