Got my first piece of my BF armor today! The girth belt from Dover Saddlery. I've got to get myself some Minwax water-based red stain to dye it.

Anyone have recommendations for a strap system in the back to connect the ends?

I just used some black leather I had laying around from an old Vader belt and punched a few gromets in it...works good for me.

The weave on the standard heavy weight strapping is incorrect thlight weight strapping has the correct weave.

I was wondering if the stain has to be watered down (cut with water) to use as a dye or is the stain used straight from the can? I have a mohair belt that I'd like to dye.

Does the belt shrink after dyeing? Will it need to be stretched while drying?
