Looks Fantastic V. only thing that looks off. in addition to them filling in the grip it looks like they also sanded off the textured grip other than that it looks like you got it spot on. may i ask what color you used for the gun?
mixed the color myself. yup, forgot to fill the holes by the trigger, gonna touch that up. and i'm not sure about the texture on the grip. it would require a lot of sanding as it is a raised area. so before i start to modify it heavily i'll wait for clearer pics.
and here is a photoshopped comparison of both barrels, the dark gray and the silver.
pic is a bit blurry cause i didn't use a flash and just natural lighting. but i think you get the idea.
As this may be something that we would ALL love to have a casting of.. I for one am of the party that the decision should be left up to the person with the actual prop, and he should not feel obligated or pressured to have it cast for the sake of the masses, .....
and I mean that just "in general" not just for this thread....again, IMO. ..
besides V did allot of work/research to get one, I think he should enjoy it a little.
I'm just glad that V has provided us with some pretty pictures of this new found part.... and he should be commended for sharing what he has, as this piece has been known for some time yet unfortunately that "information" was never shared for what ever the reason :wacko....yes dumb I know.
I don't quite agree with you here, though. Just as finders of found objects, or sculptors of costume parts don't have to share copies if they don't want to, people with information or pictures that are not public don't have to share either.
Believe me, as someone fairly out of the loop, I would love to gain any information that others are willing to share! Besides, this information was shared. If it wasn't, then Volkerc wouldn't have been able to find this nice spear gun.
Back on point: We'll never know for sure which barrel the original spear gun had, or how it was painted (or not). I'd just go with what you like best. I really like the gray barrel. It just looks more like something Fett would have.
I am making a preemptive post now to say that this thread is about the exploration and the discovery of the ESB sidearm. We greatly appreciate those who have shared their information but debating the sharing of information or who shared what and who didn't is counterproductive to this discussion. Stay on target.
Personally, I think the silver looks better, and I think it's logically what the "right" color is by deducing that the end nub is silver, and the tip/nozzel is silver. Just my thoughts.
Is it a reasonable assumption to say that the "right" color is most likely a moot point since it appears that LFL made modifications to the gun and then painted it?
