eFx's Mandalorian Helmet

If there's anything wrong with the anovos is the decals instead of paint and the brown weathering is over done. That's the rumor from the paint master anyway...

Reply i just got from chronicle regarding the helmets. In brief, it looks like we will probably have another while to go as they have not left china yet... a little disappointing but we cant do anything about that. I have no doubt we will get them, i just don't think it will be for another 2-4 months. Anyways,

Thank you for your response. I completely understand where you and others are coming from. For some clarification, we are only distributing this product, which means we do not have all the first-hand factory information that EFX does since we are not technically involved with the production end of things. The only information we receive is through EFX. The information Chronicle has provided is the most up-to-date information we have received. I completely understand the vague answers being rather infuriating, you and other customers have every reason to feel a little bit in the dark, and for that, I apologize.

I just ran over to the Production Manager's office and asked for a more precise update. He has been the one in direct contact with EFX through all of this. He has let me know that, unfortunately, they have not yet left China.
We are aware of the preconceived judgment people may have towards EFX due to delays they have had in the past. I can say though, that this product truly was on track and we were very optimistic and so sure that this product would show up on time.
EFX ran into a very small delay which involved the weathering on the helmet. This caused the piece to be moved to the 1st quarter of this year. Since EFX announced this Helmet right around the initial launch of The Mandalorian there was minimal weathering to the helmet in the beginning. Throughout the show, the Mandalorian's helmet gains some character as he goes through his adventures to protect The Child. This was a very quick fix and, once again, we got very excited anticipating the arrival of the Mandalorian Helmet.
Now, our current issue is this COVID-19 virus. As my last email states; we have been informed that many factories in China have been instructed to remain closed after Chinese New Year until mid-to-late March, due to the widespread outbreak of the coronavirus.

Once again, I deeply apologize for kind of keeping you and others in the dark. This series of unfortunate events has not been helping our case but we are doing our best to get through it. We are working around the clock to get the most up-to-date information.

Yep, we’ll just have to be patient...hopefully it’s worth the wait. I’m pretty happy with my EFX Boba, so crossing my fingers that this one is better than the Anovos.

Just received this yesterday from EFX:

Dear Daniel:

First, we hope that you, your family and friends are healthy and staying safe!

As we had posted on our blog posts on our web site, due to the Corona Virus pandemic, all of our production has been delayed. Our factory in China that is producing the Mandalorian helmet has only been working at 25% capacity since the Chinese New Years holiday ended at the end of January. However, we wanted to assure you that production is in process, even though at a much slower pace than normal.

The picture above is the actual production helmet and below are a few pictures of the helmet in process at the factory:

I haven't yet handled any pieces painted with the Alumaluster color, but the paint on these helmets appears to be pretty light in comparison to the Alumaluster, doesn't it?

Yeah they look flat silver. But I’m the email it says “the picture above”, which is referencing the very first picture, is an actual finished helmet. So it looks like there is still a final coat, and weathering left to be applied to all of those helmets pictured.

I'm hoping that you're right! But we have yet to see if they'll look good in normal lighting. These poorly lit images are making things a little suspicious to me. Though I'm cautiously optimistic, as we should always be with these companies

Yikes. That is an incredibly lackluster finish.
EFx has knocked metal painted stuff out of the park in the past, and I know they had details right from the painter...

What the hell happened?

( This is just speculation, and it doesn’t help that the quality of the photo is so poor.. but looking at their photos, in progress and the production helmet photo, it almost looks like they’re basing it in a silver and then tinting it back with a black candy clear coat. Essentially cheating it from four coats of paint (Black, 2K gloss, Alumaluster, 2K gloss) to two... (Silver, 2K black candy.)

Again, just speculation. I need to see photos that weren’t taken on a cell phone from 2004... hopefully we’ll see helmets in people’s hands soon.)

I honestly think it’s just the photos. The studio photos they’ve shared are terribly lit. The video that chronicle did of the unboxing of the final sample shows very nicely.

We’ll see soon enough... if they ever ship. It is EFX, after all. Fingers crossed.
I’ve been reassured by Chronicle as of two days ago that the expected ship is now Q2 2020 and the only holdup is the virus. I’ve asked for my clarification as to if that means they’re done and just waiting in the shipping holdup or what that means. I’ll post an update if I get one.

Finally some good news from EFX!

“THE MANDALORIAN HELMETS ARE STARTING TO BE SHIPPED FROM CHINA!
A partial shipment of The Mandalorian Helmets are scheduled to depart Hong Kong later this week, with an ETA-Los Angeles of June 5!

Please note this is a partial shipment and it is not enough to fulfill all outstanding pre-orders. We will be fulfilling the pre-orders in the order received. If your helmet is allocated in this first shipment, we will be contacting you when the boat arrives with instructions on how to complete your order.

If you are not in the first shipment, the remaining helmets are a few weeks behind this shipment.

If you ordered your helmet through Chronicle Collectibles, they will be receiving a partial shipment, as well.

We thank you for your patience.”
