DIY BOBF belts

I've been putting together a BOBF Boba while waiting for my ROTJ Bobamaker. The belt prices are a complete turn-off, so I figured I'd try and build one with foam. (obviously I'm not going for 501st approval) However I'm going for a convincing look.

I purchased 5, 2 and 1mm foam rolls from amazon. A thread pattern tool for leather, and some adhesive cement. I'm using 3/8" black braided rope. In nearly all of the available media the rope belt looks more of a faded black rather than the accepted white/grey/black pattern. I know I'm wrong, but I like the black better.

I measured my waist, left an overlap and went with a 6" wide girth belt from the 5mm foam. I marked where the ropes would need to end around the kidney plates (those 4 brass plates on either side), cut the rope, melted the ends and started hot gluing.

I used the cement to then adhere thinner 1mm foam over the rope and ends clean up the look. I'll either buy or fashion the buckles since they're just rectangles, paint, weather it, and add velcro.

I ordered the cylinders and buckles for the main pistol belt and will continue when that comes in.

I'll try and keep this going since I haven't seen much on the subject.

got the cylinders and buckle, aloud me to put the overbelt together... still needs some paint and touch-up but I'm pleased so far. Lot cheaper than 3-$600...
