DENT ALWAYS THERE!!!!!

I just viewed the scene on DVD. I stopped it and digitally zoomed to his helmet whenever the left side was showing..
It appears to me that the dent is not present till he fires the rocket. It seems to disappear until after he head buts Obi Wan. After that it is most definitely there. Most curious....
Think it's safe to say that with or without the dent it's accurate.

Just my two cents.. ;)

No, I would have to say that in this pic there is no dent. With the location of the dent, it should show up and the light reflecting off his dome would make it more evident if there was a dent there it wouldnt hide it.

One thing to think about is that they prob put the dent in later due to some story relation and it shows up when he fires the rocket (or after) The FX guys would have made a helmet with the dent in it. Now not all scenes are filmed in order so there is a possiblity that some earlier shots in the fight were filmed after the dent was put into the helmet and they simply grabbed that helm and not bothering with the undented one

ya mabie obiway deflected one of jangos shots back at him in a verry small cut sceen and thats what causes the dent. what do you guys think? oh and the oh and the dent is present wile jango first takes off in his JP and fires at jango. i got a pic of that up there

That's it, this is getting ugly. I'm locking this thread! Er,...I forgot, I can't do that.

No more showin Obi's :moon ! This is supposed to be a thread about a dent.

did anyone consider the helemt got actually damaged during filming? for cryin out loud... only we nerds see this kinda thing... it';s a bloody error!!

he doesn't have it when he turns around an after that POW!

jesus, calm down buddy. im just trying to show people that the dent is there all along. no need to get agrivated
:( . i was just anoyed to hell & back by people saying it was caused by him ''bumping his head'' on slave1. oh and i donthink that that deeper indent was caused just by droping it. mabie the less deep dent that surrounds the deeper one. i think you would need to hit it with somthing like a baseball bat to cause the deeper one

Besides, it would have to be metal to dent, even by accident. Fiberglass wouldn't dent like that, so it had to be intentionally made that way.

The dent supposedly appears when he gets run over by the beast in the arena. Have a close look at the before and after shots in that scene. It seemed obvious at the time when I noticed it, but it could be the memory playing tricks (haven't seen AOTC for while).

ow... I didn;t mean to sound agitated...

sorry for that :)

just... everyone was rambling on about what could have happened story based... but it's probably just a shooting error.

Well when you think about it, in the easter egg they show Jango fall off the ledge while I assume he was practicing for the fight scene. This may be where he got the dent from.

Xantok

ok i just spent the last 20 min with a special VCR that i have that allows me to look at every single frame on the tape watching the scean when he swings around. it took me a few times and i replayed each frame & replayed each frame again & again noticing the same thing each time i followed this little blur on jangos helmet that in about 95% sure its the dent. i also tracked where it goes and it does go exactly where that little light is on jangos helmet. the fact that his helmet is chrome makes it like a comcave (bowl like) miror that makes it almost imposible to tell depth ot that its even there. I wish i had a DVD player that would do the same thing as my VCR but i dont know of one that gives you compleate controle like it. the reason i say 95% is cause its alittle blurry when you frezze a VHS frame. but i truely think im looking at the dent. its right where it should be. mabie someone on here could attempt to post pict of each frame of the shot that hes turning. that would help alot

the light source is coming from the upper right corner, behind Jango... so... shouldn;t there be light on "the edges" of the dent if it were there? it is highly reflective..

you would think that but i think your more fimiliar to a non reflective surface doing that. jangos helmet is almost like a mirror and that could cause the light reflecting in the dent to do weird thing like look like its not there. also the dent isnot like bobas that has sharper edges around it (i know bobas is more of a goudge so dont correct me) the edges are infact really round so you wouldnt nessaseraly see the edges when its reflecting cause they could be reflecting onto eachother at some points and make it look like the helmet it not damaged. anyway if you have AOTC on dvd and especialy if its full screen not wide screen then try what i did. freeze the movie right when boba points out obiwan and play the movie as slow as you possably can to try and make it even slower. freeze for atleast 5 min at the spot that when jango is turning about half way into the turn. should look like hes looking at boba sorta. and look at it cairfuly. and i mean really cairfully. if you find that little blur that i found then follow it and it should move along with the helmet and into the space where the light settles when jango has turned fully. it should be alot clearer for you DVD people.
and plz post pics if you even have the slightest idea that you might be sing it. it would help so much. TY
or better yet plz post the frame that i described. i might be able to point out what i saw.

ok better yet look at this http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=9815&highlight=dented+helmet the dent on this jango is just like the one in the movie. its a sorta dent within a dent. in the shot i could not see the larger less savear dent but the dent that i am sure i saw was the smaller one. it almost blends in perfectly along with the rest of the helmet in the frame i was looking at. be sure to look for any and i mean any color inconsistancys in the frame where the dent should be.
