Is a 401k like a pension?

A 401K is like a personal portfolio, sometimes with your contribution matched by your employer (up to a certain percentage of your normal pay...like 3% or 6%), with the main purpose of having those funds disbursed to you at retirement age (or later). There are certain tax benefits to saving up this way, as well as many 401K's allowing you to draw "emergency" loans against your own 401K account.

Thanks man, that sounds like a pension. I thought it might be something like that. The other parts made sense but this sounded like some kind of slang. It sounds like a pretty sweet deal and a job with security is huge. Top stuff.

The double time for nightshifts might sound tempting but having worked nights for 15 years I'd recommend you give serious consideration to how many you do. It's like being permanently jet lagged after a while.

Yea that was the perfect explination Mugatu thanks for that ...

Yea Andy this is the job i will likely stay at unless something would force me to leave. Because its at a college i also can send myself, wife, or any future kids to school for free. So that is a good bonus as well.

hehe i know all about night shifts lol...i used to work them myself, and am not a huge fan either. But if a situation arises that i need the cash, i can take a couple of shifts. Id prefer not to, but just knowing its available if i need it is nice.

So generally speaking..... i spoke to my Father in law yesterday and he asked if they took me to human resources, and they did, and he said then thats it, your in...unless something comes up on your background check lol..but i know its fine. Especially since recently i had to do a paid event for Disney and they do background checks as well an that came up squeeky clean :)

Also now that i will have steady income im going to look into having some of the parts for this machined in aluminum for masters, to have them more clean and perfect. Depending on cost and interest, i may also offer some machined parts on a limited basis like the thruster greeblies, rocket collar, stabilizer etc. I will also be able to make masters for the ESB flamer so when i complete the gauntlets i can offer ESB with the flamer ASAP. I also have a super awesome idea for a gauntlet rocket to help reduce the weight of the aluminum rockets..and also do them with the correct copper head.

See, me getting a real job still helps out all of us Fett heads haha. :D

Anywho..back out to the shop..workin 7 days a week now on these so i can have ALL of them, including the painted kits not on this list, done by the time the new job starts.

It sounds like Pops has done you a massive solid to help yout on the first but that's how it should be. The free schooling sounds very positive too.

Talk to me about machined ears dude.

Sounds like you got the job then? If so congrats dude. The free schooling would be awesome. I would get like 5 degrees if I had the chance.
