2020 Zam Wesell

New Hunter
Hello everyone. Just want to start by hoping everyone had a great New Year and holidays. So my name is Manny and I’m currently in the process of building my wife a Zam Wesell that I started back in November 2019. I’m still in the beginning stages and I’m still waiting for the chest armor, helmet and gauntlets from MonCal. I was able to get a set of greeblie and some parts I 3D printed. I currently have a seamstress making the suit from a white neoprene and I also have probably 80% of the leather cut for the shirt. I will take pictures of my process and if there is any advice anyone wants to give me, it will be highly appreciated. I’m currently thinking of buying Ritz material dye (Synthetic) to dye the white neoprene and hopefully be able to match the color.

Just a little update.

I bought some Greeblies from someone in FB but the original maker I was told is unknown, so if anyone knows who he is please let me know. I had to make a new mold and cast them because the greeblies that was sent to me had many air bubbles, were very fragile and had many imperfections. I tried to clean them up as much as possible and mold/cast them. The blaster I got from Thingiverse.com I tinkered the nozzle a bit to make it more accurate but overall it’s a great file. I 3D modeled and 3D printed some parts (hand plates, cape seal and ovaries). I then molded/casted them as well to make them more durable than 3D prints (South Florida weather can be rough) and to make them look a bit more screen accuracy. The moon crest I got from someone inCGTrader (3D-mon)

Suit was made by a friend of mine that helped me sew (I have 0% sewing skills) and it was tailor made for my wife.

I’m still cutting the leather for the skirt...

i'm really interested in seeing how the synthetic dye works out. that accurate purple neoprene has been the bane of many a potential Zammers existence.

Definitely my biggest fear is the dye. I’m trying to match the CRL color with the Ritz dye Formula in their site and hope to get the exact color. Many testing will happen before I try to dye the whole suit.

Yes. I have a good amount of scraps to test. I will definitely post picture of the results and get opinions. I will write down formula that I used in case it helps anyone

The items that you modeled and 3D printed, are those available somewhere?

I haven’t uploaded them anywhere yet but I wouldn’t mind sharing the files (hand plate, cap seal and ovary) for anyone looking for some Zam parts :)

The moon shape I didn’t design it (3D-mon) but I made the ovary to fit perfect and the blaster all I did was redesigned the nozzle

Love it! I never got my 501st approved, and have a handful of things I want to correct for my own Zam. Never got my aluminum blaster, either. The neoprene run by Jabbadashery ran out long ago and I'm glad to see someone go the white fabric dyed route. If you get it right, you'll be the hero of a few more Zam to be. Good luck! :)

wow fantastic work.... I have been trying to start my wife zam but not a lot of people making parts would definitely interested in files ..... keep up the great work

Hello everyone.
I’m sorry I haven’t updated my progress lately. I hit a small bump in the dying process for the suit. So I started by doing small batches of the dye and testing it on small pieces. I then multiplied it to a greater amount to do the suit but the color wasn’t the same and the color wasn’t what I wanted so now I’m back to square one and I’m doing each test with a big batch of dye to get the color I want I think I’m getting close to the CRL color and I will post my results soon to get everyone opinions, I’m just waiting right for more Purple to get delivered lol

Here is some small progress I have done:

Hey for all the greeblies I did a mold (some are from an unknown maker and some are 3D printed) I 3D model the cape seal, hand plates and ovaries. The moon crest I got the files from 3Demon

The gauntlets, chest armor and helmet I’m getting from MonCal. I’m still missing the Shin and ankle armor which I’m going to order from MonCal as well. I’m 3D modeling the Toe armor which I hope to finish soon

Hello everyone. Would like to get some opinions :) Very hard to capture the color through my phone lol and depending on where I am the color looks different.
