Helmet skirt Commission – Interest Check

Hey everyone! I’m going through a local leatherworks to get a batch of helmet skirts commissioned. It’s been a long time since anyone’s made these, and this is currently my only route to get them done. To be clear, I have the previous created 1:1 scale file on here and will make sure these are as accurate as possible.


I’ve been quoted $50–$75 per skirt, depending on final materials and numbers. Right now, I’m in discussions with them about options like leather, vinyl, and faux leather.

At this stage, I’m trying to get a hard count of serious interest to help bring that price down for everyone involved. To be absolutely clear:

• I am not making any money on this.
• I’m working to make this as affordable as possible for everyone, not just myself.
• The business will handle the transactions—I won’t be collecting or holding any funds.
• This will be a one-time run—I won’t be doing this again.

They will send me photos of what the prototype looks like if anyone wants to make tweaks!!

I had him follow this plan with the Velcro on the inside (where you will add some strips to your helmet so you can attach or take off when ever you like)

So we can expect it to look largely like this example before.

This is their first sketch with my critiques.

This will all be laser cut. The triangles you see at the borders, are for the added inch of extra material which have the Velcro. We need this because of the angles will be attaching the Velcro on the helmet. We decided to stitch the Velcro on. Unlike the previous skirt made on here. You guys will have to add your own Velcro on the inside of your helmet.

One thing they will address is the circular stitching on the bottom. I will make sure they square it off.

Do you guys have any critiques? They plan to make the first prototype around next week. So we’ll still be open for interest if you want one.

I think we’re gonna go with this type of vinyl (obviously, not this color ) that looks like leather. Leather, would just be ungodly too hot and substantially more expensive. I’ll get a sample of the navy/dark blue as it gets closer.
