01Hawk WIP : Supertrooper

About the stabilizer, would this work? Drill the hole for the bolt and stick an exactly matched diameter disc of sandpaper to the bottom of it, then loosely bolt it in place and use it to sand its own mounting surface.

That would work but It would still be at an angle. Unless I put sand paper on just a 1/4 of the piece and worked it around the high area. I may try to sand the pack in that area as you described and sand the stabilizer as well to split the variance on each so it minimizes the adjusted look

I have been beyond lazy about working on this ... I have worn it a couple times as is and love it though. Hoping to work on it this weekend. I did, however, pick up another towel. This one has a trademark but the tag is gone. It is the non fringe version as well. It is pretty worn but still decent .

i would like to but without a Merc booth I don't know that I will have a spot to change. Depends on who is present at the 501st table I guess.

Been working on making the upper part of the sling gun all weekend. Here is the rough cast of it. I currently have it all filled and drying. Also a few other pieces cast for the supertrooper.

Although the rough mold/casting was ok I wasn't happy with it. I made a new model ( I think the rear of the upper area is a little bit high but I will sand that out) and will be making a new rough mold. I think the new model will get it pretty close.

Little bit of finish work and this will be ready to make a production mold. It's a bit tall in the back but it can be sanded down. Pretty happy with the results.

Looking good, although that spider cracking on the paint might cause some issues...I'd look for a different paint if I were you, I've had that issue before, its a pain to deal with. I'm not completely sure what causes it, though I'm sure some of the more knowledgable people here do...

The spider cracking was cause I sprayed it on straight and with residue from clay on it I think. That piece is actually an model built from the templates using cut outs of ABS with clay in the center to keep it from collapsing when I make a mold of it. One the mold is done, I'm going to make a casting of the piece in resin and work off of that to make a final mold to start making real usable parts. Even with the resin they say to let it air out for a week or so before painting.

Thanks for the compliment ! I am going to add the holes and the arrows. The CRLs are out on the Merc site so I have a bunch of stuff to address- lower pack greeblie, the cover piece that covers the greeblies and wires, change my arrows to dark blue ( even tho I think they are black ). I got so used to just wearing it as is but I am now back into fixing it up. Been spending time on the sling gun and am almost finished with that. Appreciate the support and feedback!
