QUESTION: Was the Fett Rangefinder eyepiece a found part?

Was the Fett rangefinder eyepiece custom, or found? Has it been identified? I ask, because while doing hospital rounds this weekend, I came across an object that had quite the familiar profile. Some Google-foo has revealed similar shaped pieces, but not exact.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's a found part and it is the viewfinder of a Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera:

Thanks for the quick response! For clarification: not just the square glass "eye", but the entire trapezoid shaped black housing. Looking at the entire Polaroid viewfinder above, while it has the same shape as the piece on the helmet, was it heavily modified (?)

The rangefinder casing and the perspex body were scratch built, while the viewfinder was not modified, only the 2 small hinges were removed.
