W.I.P ESB Boba's armor

Active Hunter
Hey!
I just wanted to share my progress on my boba armor!
I will be ordering the flak vest soon if anyone has one for sale or knows of one.

I started with 3mm sintra, I'm going to work on the back and belt tomorrow.
I also shaped the pieces with hot water, let me know what you think of the result, I will be buying a heat gun this week.
Let me know what you think and if you have any advice!

Baby yoda's overseeing the whole operation. Man, he is just insanely cute.
Aside from this, love seeing the sintra builds. These are real fun to do and I have fond memories of my time playing with Sintra when I was in the Mercs. Be careful with the heat gun! Burned my leg with one LOL
Looks great thus far! ^^

Update time:
I ended up with an armor too large for me... I reprinted the patterns from Rafal works and used them instead, they look the right size.

Next will be shaping the damage (I shaped the armor with hot water). At least I have an armor to do trials on!

I also ordered the paint!

I'm running into a dilemma... I got the paint and everything but I don't know if my armor is thick enough (3mm) or if I should try to thicken the edges with a method before painting.
Any advice?

3mm is probably going to be too thin. When I made mine, I used 6mm. You could possibly glue another layer of the 3mm just along the edges, then trim and sand to meet up with the edges. It needs to be thicker so you can get that nice return edge on the armor.

Okay so I should glue some sintra all around the edges? Should I fill the small gap between the two or is there a different technique?

I’m certainly no expert, but I would glue them first. Then sand the edges to desired return edge. Then fill the edges with a filler. I found spray putty really easy to work with, but you might also need some other filler to bridge bigger gaps.
Just thin strips would do I guess, as you are just faking the depth.

Not sure what your budget constraints are, but it could work out easier getting 6mm. Use this set as a practice paint run and a good spare set.
Either way, best of luck

I agree with this technique. You may need to use some Bondo type filler. It shouldn’t take much. Just enough to fill the seam. My first knee armor was sintra as well and it was layered in certain areas and that is how I made it look like one piece. As far as gluing them together, I had good luck with just regular CA glue. Starting with 6mm would be the easiest, but you have already put a lot of work into it already.

Thanks for the response! I found some easy to work with epoxy putty. I already did the whole front armor and I'm waiting for it to dry before sanding.
Should I do the same for the collar and shoulders? They do seem thinner on the pictures

They should all be the same thickness.

Update: I followed your advice and attached another 3mm sintra piece and filled the gaps with bondo, then sanded it. A lot of work for 3mm haha.
I used primer to see where I'd need sanding, next step will be 1000 grit sand paper to make it perfectly smooth!

Hello there,
I finally sanded everything after adding the extra thikness.
I have a problem: there is still small marks of sanding here and there (I used filler primer to make that better) I think it goes with fett's amor, what do you guys think?

It all adds to the look I think, and when you add paint/weathering you'll never see any small scratches.
Well done on the 3mm conversion

It ended up looking good enough after the filler primmer so i added the silver layer, my problem now haha: the graphite paper leaves no mark on it...
So I want to start masking the silver but can't figure out how to make it work, any idea?

I used Tracedown paper, the white version.

Maybe? I could see it ok though. Wasn't super clear, but easy enough to follow.

Just noticed they do an assorted colours pack
