W.I.P ESB Boba's armor

I tried airbrushing a first layer but the humbrol clogged the airbrush so I have to clean it all.. Any advice on how I should use the paint? I think it's not made for air brushes so do you guys use something to make it more fluid or just water? Also I used the pipette to put the paint in the brush but not the pipette is full of paint and ruined...

I do use a combo of different paints including humbrol enamels. The Humbrol paints do need a fair amount of thinner to spray and not clog your brush. You are right in saying they are not airbrush ready.

The thinner amount varies a little from can to can. Each have their own consistency. Eg for yellow I added 5 mm of thinner orange more like 6-7. I use the humbrol branded enamel thinner.

For thinning and mixing I’d suggest getting something like tamiya mixing jars. Carefully pour your paint in, thin and mix thoroughly. The paint just bonds to the plastic pipettes and kills them. Same with syringes.

I bought some plastic Shot Glasses, 20 for £1. Work a treat and I bin them after, so no cleaning :)

For enamel I use B&Q own brand White Spirit. Acrylic I use Vallejo own, but i mostly use enamels as I've had better success with them

Hi everyone I need hep... I am getting very frustrated with the airbrush. I used the matt 79 paint with airbrush thinner but nothing ever comes out of the brush, it just ends up clogging it. I tried using a regular brush to do this one but I'll have to wet sand it and redo it.
Is the paint I bought wrong? they're all humbrol enamel, what do people use?

Hi
Sorry to hear things aren’t going so well. I personally use a combo of Vallejo, humbrol and tamiya paints with my brush. It could a pressure or thinner issue.
What kind of airbrush and compressor are you using? Also what kind of thinner and what ratio?

Thanks for the information.

Looking at the thinner you have listed this may be the issue. This thinner is for acrylics. Humbrol paint is an enamel and does need an enamel thinner. I do use the humbrol branded one but any enamel thinner should work. Hopefully swapping that out will do the trick.

I just got a new airbrush and I finished all the layers! I'm now done with the green and will go on to do the shades (if anybody know what color to use that'd be super helpfull)

My problem now is that I think the green is too bright compared to the movies...
here are some pictures

I'm going to add the shading, I'm thinking about mixing my green with some black, then misting it exactly like the one on this picture.
I'm still not sure about my green though, it's a 76/78 mix but doesn't look like the one from the guide I've been following.

it is a 76/78 mix, don't be afraid to go more grey (panzer green) than you think.
The grey (panzer green) for the shades you mean or the base color? I remixed the 76/78 and got something I liked a lot more: let me know what you think (It was taken inside at night with the flash on my phone so I should get a better idea tomorrow but I'm liking it more)

I just put some grey/black on it but I'm not satisfied with either the green or black, I'm going to redo the green by alternating between lighter and darker versions of the 76/78 mix, like on this post: The Builder ESB Build
Let me know if anyone has advice or tips!

Here is photo in day light of the armor with some weathering and many layers of lighter/darker green coats. Pleaaase let me know what you think! Thank you everyone!
(The paint isn't fully dry so there us some spots.)

Update: Received the Flak vest but I'm not sure about it: the shoulders are too wide and the back seems the be weird (I have a small waist so it looks like they just put an elastic instead of actually tailoring it.)
Let me know why you think

I think your impression is correct...they did not properly tailor it to you. And is there a seam down the front or just a crease? Because there shouldn’t be a seam there.

It's a crease, the problem is that I would have to return it only to get a refund... Then go through the hassle of finding another vest, have it tailor made again and wait to receive it. Do you think it can be saved? Maybe I can get the back tailored to my size but it would move the positioning of the holes. Do the shoulders look bad to you, know that I will have a flightsuit underneath (probably thicker).

I am also wondering if with the back plate it would still be a problem...

A good tailor should be able to bring those shoulders in
