Helmet There is no Antrock helmet

Thanks JF and Porkins. Yes, I did a rangefinder with a laser and illuminated targeting recticle. Unfortunately, Radio Shack no longer carries the laser modules. I'll see if I can put up a new pic in the old thread, since all the pics there are now gone. :)

(from above) ...I'll let you all know if Antrock ever comes through, but he's hangin' on to my money in the mean time. Beware!

I just stumbled across this old post by accident and realized I never updated it. Antrock never came through on the helmet, but he DID return my payment eventually. Meanwhile, I've been working on my JD helmet, and I love the way it's turning out so far. I'll post progress pics when I have enough to make it worth everyone's while. :) Thanks again to JD and others for their sound advice so far!

Cool, Joren! A fellow JD helmet owner. I'm working on mine now, needs a little remodeling but coming right along. :D

Hey Judz. Just wanted to ask about this helmet. What colors did you use? I noticed that there's a black rectangle painted around the vents in the back side. How did you treat this?

I found a guy close buy who's going to build a motor for my range finder stalk so it moves up and down. I'm pretty happy with mine so far. It's slow going but I want it as perfect as I can get it. My biggest problem is getting the T visor to fit snugly against the helmet.

The "black rectangle" as it apears in the pics, is the weathering in the keyslot's recessed area. the photo doesn't show it very well. :facepalm
Colors?, the one to the left is run in polished white gelcoat, with the visor and cheeks painted black and gray. :D

For the JANGO colors, I used Plasticote automotive medium silver for the base, Krylon true blue satin for the visor and band area, and navy blue satin & royal blue dusted together for the cheeks, ears, and rf.
As for getting the visor just right, it's a pain in the drain. Just ask anyone who's done it. You could always get a welding shield and not use the plexi. It may be easier to instal, but it doesn't keep the front of the helmet as ridged.

Thank you! Man I can't wait to be done. Guess sitting here staring at everyone's pictures doesn't get mine done. I bought a digital camera, finally, so I'll see if I can't hurry and finish something to share with everyone. Hope I don't disappoint!

As a proud owner of your helmet, I must say I much prefer the welding shield to the plexi that came with mine. The plexi is too thick, too hard to trim, and too see-through. I got a shade 5 welding shield. Nobody can see in, I was able to make the T-Visor narrower, and with just hot glue it stuck in really well.

Remember Foxbat, you didn't get it from me. Antrock got his plexi from a different source than I. I'm not sure what thickness or shade HE supplied. :facepalm

Nope, we're completely independent in our dealings. I helped him make a duplicate set of molds from my stuff, and that's all. He does the rest at his own place.
