The new carbine 2020

Hi all, feel like I been away as long as fett has but I return with new inspiration which is of course, Boba Fett and his ever changing costume. My focus is only on that new presumed to be EE3 Carbine for now as that seems like it will be a constant for the time we have Fett on screen with us.

I want to make it from scratch but understand reference material is limited, if anyone has an promotion pictures, screen grabs? Any information on spec would be great, please feel free to add to this post for any and all who wish to discuss and start their own "EE3" build... be nice to have it all in one place.

Here is what I have so far and it isn't a lot!

It looks to be a sort of mash up between the ESB version with its lighter stained stock and a greeblie. Then there is the front which is sort of ROTJ? With a new scope..

Thoughts, ideas, information?

Parts of Star Wars (which I only JUST found out is still active) posted a few of the pieces for this new version.

I'm already a huge fan of this rifle.

Not familiar with this "parts of starwars" would you be able to gather said information with their consent?

I have found out through various places, reading, digging that the scope is a Lyman all american 4x scope.... so this is a start.

I did the best I could with screen grab of from the show and an Internet listing for one, they match up well

They have a website where they broke down the real world parts used for star wars props, and I give that site full credit for my own knowledge of all the WW2 weapons and camera parts used in blasters and saber hilts. The site hasn't been updated in a long time from what I can tell, but they post on Facebook regularly and that's where I saw the items they listed for the scope, some greeblies, and the brackets. I would search on FB for "The Parts of Star Wars", should come right up.

I no longer use Facebook, I walked away from it, it was just no longer for me...

Don't suppose you could screen grab some of the information for me could you?

For the greater good of course

Sweet, thanks for posting it too. I think there is another thread on the sidearm. It was also used in Chapter 9 by Gor Koresh.

They have Instagram which I do have, all credit to this Parts of Starwars page... they have taken a look at a lot of things...

The quest continues...

I have quite a bit of information here, need to make plans, designs... need more images of the other side of this thing, also critical dimensions

Right on. I'm not on Instagram so i didn't think of it, but glad you found a way. Also, good for you on the Facebook thing (no sarcasm). I keep wanting to get off for a few reasons, but it's where I have all my nerd (and otherwise) news feeding, so that's really all I do with it.

I found the specs on the scope from an original owners manual. so this gives a unit of scale to work from. I feel some vector drawings coming on! unless anyone actually has one of these scopes and could measure the whole darn thing up?

specs.

Specifications:
Power: 4x
Field of View: 30ft
Tube Diameter: 1”
Eye Distance: 3 1/4”
Length: 12”
Weight: 10 oz.
Adjustments: 3/4”
Construction: Anodized Aluminum

For heaven sake forgive the crudity of this drawing but I had a stab at a vector image trying to overcome the issue of parallax when looking at a top down photo! Yeah that's confusing. I wanted to simply get a sense of scale before I rush to the lathe and churn one out.....its big, its a big scope compared to what we are used to.. anyway here my deductions based on pure curiosity...

It seems longer than previous EE3s.

With a 12 inch scope on top of my ROTJ EE3 its almost at the muzzle I did a test fit with some 12 inch tube to a feel for it.

I think I can scale this rifle from the many screen grabs I have. Perhaps in the future this aswell as the kit will be on some sort of display, will be interesting to see how mine will compair. Its still very early days and there is going to be lots to discover

I have no more info on this blaster this is it! All that remains is to build it.... one for the new year.

I like how they handled the stock details. I always thought if I ever wanted to make an "idealized" version of the EE-3, I might embed the greeblies in the stock rather than just sticking them on. I always preferred the ROTJ EE-3 so I'm glad this new one seems to be an evolution of that one.

They have embedded the greeblies well on this as some thought went into it. They did their research on Fetts preference for a blaster.

I am currently mocking up a plan, design to get more sense of scale, in no way are my measurements accurate more of an interpretation of what I see and what I know of the origal blaster, I am simply translating that to this new version...

I think....on the back stock that round thingy is a camera part, the chassis if you will for a focusing ring, I have lots of vintage camera parts for other projects and it sure looks familiar..

Possibly, maybe, who knows at this point

I have finished my design of the new blaster, its a simple 2D reference image to get a feel for what it will look like. Is it accurate? more than likely not 100% true but now I see it next to my trooping blaster it feels right, this new one is larger, the whole thing looks more robust, the 1 inch dia scope gives it some meat over the previous slender versions.

I now need to 3D model each component and get some depth from it.... I will start machining parts for it next year.

Think I will move on to the armour and helmet next.
