RotJ Flamethrower nozzles

What is everyone using for these? Even better, who can identify them?

I may be ESB and all, but I was checking those out the other day. You'd think it would be easy to find a part that looks pretty much like a knurled fitting or sleeve. It looks like they just slid those puppies over the tube.

They look like air compressor fittings to me, the kind that you have to slide the collar down on to POP! them off. I don't recall ever seeing any that are slightly tapered like these are.

Just for size reference, the inside width of the flamethrower housing is approximately 7/8" wide. That would mean the nozzles are somewhere around 1/2" in diameter.

Got any pics of what you made, Chief?

I used nylon spacers from Home DePot. I made one original, molded it with RTV, and cast with resin.

I thought those were "Blastech DUR-24 Wrist Lasers"...

I made mine with nylon spacers from Home Depot (not the same ones used for the knee darts).

I've got the same poster, but since when has LFL been consistent?

The left side of the left gauntlet is the location of the flamethrower on the Pre-Pro, ESB, and Jango Fett suits. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone, other than that poster, refer to that as a laser, but don't quote me on that.

I made mine out of brass. I'll post pics once I finish my gauntlets.

Well, if those barrels ARE for the flamethrower, then why isn't there a supply line (sink hose) feeding that gauntlet, and what does the top hose feed on the right gauntlet (2 of the 3 hoses go down to the grappling hook area, and 1 goes up to ? on top of the gauntlet)?

Good question, FH, one that I don't have an answer for. Being that I don't plan on making a functional flamethrower, I'm not too worried about it although I suppose there should be some agreement as to what it is called. I'll just call it "that box thing on the side of my left gauntlet" in the meantime.

FP, pics are coming my friend. I just glued the bottom shell on, but I am holding off on attaching "that box thing on the side of my left gauntlet" until I have the electronics prewired.

I have that poster as well, and if you look at it closely...or vaguely really, it's pretty obvious, they call it two different things. On the image where he's facing away from the camera (as you have shown above) they call is a blaster thingie, but on the image where he's facing the camera, it's called a flame projecter. I always thought it was weird, because the bottom one should be longer than the first one, like a pilot on the flamethrowers...but it IS sci-fi, so who cares. 2001 is still the most accurate space movie, and you know how thrilling that one is. Anyways, the point was that all sorts of officially licensed material contradict each other, but that particular poster contradicts itself. Also, that one poster (which had the image where I first noticed the ESB sidearm) with the front and back pictures in a less dynamic pose, they name the sidearm as a grenade launcher. Must be some tiny grenades that erupt from that barrel.

So, this brought up questions I've been meaning to ask for quite a while. What is the general consensus about all the gauntlet weapons? Where's the whipcord come from? Which is the flamethrower? Which is the laser he uses to shoot at Luke, etc? The flamethrower, I would think, is the thing this topic is about anyway. Not only did Jango throw flame from that spot, but also it's where the original flame thrower (which was supposed to actually function) was on the pre-pro suit.

i used two of the larger sized x-acto knives. just take off the blades and blade holder thingamagig.

good fast and cheap! not that accurate though.

I used an RF connector from Radio Shack, it looks pretty close to the knurling that is on the real one and is close enough for me.

I took apart the connector and inserted aluminum tubing inside.
