Noob here

Hi all,
I'm a noob here, although I've been on the RPF for about a year now I think. I have the same username there. I've been a fan of props forever, and started tinkering with improvising and creating my own way back in the last century, in the 80s. I remained a Maker since then but just returned to making props, cosplay stuff, etc. pretty recently in the last couple of years.

Anyway I joined here because I'm starting to piece together my own Mandalorian outfit. I'm buying a bunch of it from various sources but I'm also making some of it myself, doing a lot of weathering, and so on. I don't plan to exactly replicate a specific Mandalorian ,but fortunately the shows now have so many random Mandos that fitting in as a custom variation doesn't seem like a problem. That appeals to me personally (and creatively) far more than an exact screen replication of Boba Fett or whoever, although I still very much appreciate those as well.

I'll probably start a thread on my build and related items.

Anyway, that's my intro. It appears that the site is a lot quieter than it used to be, which isn't surprising, but there's still activity and a ton of old threads to reference and learn from. :)

Hey welcome! Custom mandos are really cool and fun to work on, It's really nice to be able to put your own personality into a build. I'm working on one myself all though I don't have a build thread here for it.

If you are into custom builds definitely check out the Mandalorian Mercs forums too.... a gold mine of information and inspiration for custom builds (and you can always connect with your local Mercs clan there if costume clubs are something you are interested in!)

Looking forward to seeing your build!

Well, it sounds like you should. :)

I'm familiar with the club but not sure it's my cup of tea with the various costume rules/requirements, but it's something I'll consider as the project comes along. But I'm sure they're a gold mine for info and inspiration like you said, so I'll definitely go sign up on their site and surely get pulled into that rabbit hole too haha...

Thanks for the welcome!
