Boushh New option for Electro Staff Kit Now Available

In striving to make a better more accurate version of the electro staff I have designed a version to be 3D printed. I have tried to get it as close to accurate as possible based on the few reference photos available. I took some liberties to help with strength & for some portions to be 3D printed.

This will be 2 complete pieces. The tip (just over 12 inches long) & the lower half (just under 19 inches long). All that will be needed to complete this is a 3/4" PVC pipe (1.050" outsid diameter), from your local home improvement store, cut to a desired length & slide the 2 pieces onto each end. The lower half has provisions for screws & at this time the tip would need to be glued. Each piece is hollow so will be light weight.

Finalized my design & will be ordering what I would call my prototype. If happy with it & no changes need to be made this will be offered to be ordered if there is any interest. Price as it sits right now would be $315 + shipping barring any changes that may need to be made.

Here are some renders of the design.

The Electro Staff pieces arrived today from Shapeways. Very happy with this. Each piece is hollow. I do want to add a couple of reinforcements to the lower section but that is very minor. The extent of assembly is slide the tip onto one end of a 3/4" PVC pipe (1.050" diameter) & slide the lower section over the other end. This can be put together in probably 15 minutes. There are some print lines that would need some light sanding. This would be ready for paint in no time. The lower section could be filled with expansion foam to give it some internal support. This is very light.

There is a photo with a comparison to the staff that I scratch built based on the Slideshow/Hasbro 12" figure staff. The PVC pipe is a little short but that is one I had laying around the house but this can be made to any height that would be required.

So with a couple of mods to the design this will be available to buy in the near future.

I finally got around to completing the Electro Staff for my wife to upgrade from the PVC scratch build that I had done. I made the main length piece into 2 pieces using a 1/2" thread to be able to screw it together. This uses a 3/4" PVC pipe for the length which is 1.055" diameter. I painted this in a black misted with some bronze & brass to give it a brown hue. I did a topical dry brush for the weathering. Went for a more idealized look.

Oh I love your work......just a little question..

the person who built my staff made it as one piece..(bless his soul) but of course it takes up the length in my car and wont fit in my sons...(yeah its that small)

so now I have used the wife card on the husband... He is asking how would like me to go ahead. mine is made from pipes, so in my head it seems easy but placing it down into words is another kettle of fish...

So how would you make it join once cut in half? I know being a pipe is a bonus, Let me know if you wish this conversation to go off thread

Anyone know if these kits are still available? Can't find on Shapeways

This is a link to a page where the parts are located. As near as I can tell, the file ES AFK COM is common, regardless of which size you build. Then for a 25mm tube, you want ES L DA 25 and ES CST 25, or the same file names ending in 28 for the 28mm tube.
