New Hunter
Hey fellow Fett’s and other Mando’s.

Here’s a little photo dump of my wasted Fett armour progress so far.

Still long way to go, I’m currently shopping around for an air brush set and should be masking and painting by this weekend!

I’m starting this thread as I’m sure I will be adding more pics and will defo have questions down the road.

stoooooked!!!

Lookin' good! Looking at the armor, is this a ROTJ setup?

-Iron
Thanks! It is, I will be starting my masking and painting this weekend, I think I’ve sourced the right colours. Montana rattle cans have colours really close to what the 501st want. Ialso have hunt club and will be airbrushing as well, it will be a bit of an experiment but I think I’ll nail it. Fingers crossed.

Very exciting!

While you’re waiting for your airbrush I would suggest trimming down the edges of your armour some more. Compare yours to photos of the original in the media gallery and you’ll see it could be trimmed down a bit.

I measured and trimmed the armour to what wasted Fett recommended. 1/8th of and inch from the trim line, and sand down to what I thought was the thickness. Do you still think it needs more trimming??

Trimmed down the collar bone after looking at some reference in the media section, going to just sand, prime, and then paint the parts I’ve trimmed with rust oleum metallic silver today. I know it just the edges but whatever. Thanks for the heads up Jango Fett JR!!

Tested out the yellow Montana cans on the abdominal armour after masking . I feel pretty good about this yellow. Airbrush has arrived and I’m practicing with it. But I’m thinking I could do all the yellow and possibly the green with rattle cans, saving the airbrush for the detailing and weathering.

Masked and painted my yellow (used Indian spice Montana rattle can) last night, removed the masking fluid this morning.
Good times!

Not a bad job for resin pieces. Honestly I didn’t even think to weather mine a bit. (Mine are metal and from QDC) I just added the red and black rings on em’ via airbrush.

Welcome aboard.... I started my build last January and worked it all year. Was able to get gear'd up at Halloween. In regards to airbrushes... I started off with the set and compressor at Harbor Freight. If you can get there today, its 30% with Presidents day sale. I ended up upgrading the brush. Found this kit for you on amazon. Best of luck, feel free to ping me if you want some free and frequent advice.

Ahh, damn, I bought an airbrush and compresser set last week, lol. Wish I had waited, all good, it works, but I think i will upgrade the compresser next pay day. I have a question while we are at it, I'm airbrushing little pieces today and I was wondering what colour the collar studs should be, I've primed them, and it looks like most go with just a standard gray?

Cheers and happy presidents day!

I believe I went with a metallic silver and then dusted with black for weathering.
From the CRL: 4 square studs that are silver in color.

So had to take a step back but I think I’m back on track, stenciled the damage properly, masked the metallic and striping yellow, and I found a hobby store that has literally everything and I’ve found all the Tamiya colours I need for the bits of the original esb colour that is on the collar, chest, abdominal and cod plate. Next up will be hunt club green...

slow and steady... slooow and steady.

Think it looks alright, still needs a bit more weathering with a black wash airbrush. But progress, ready to move on to my shoulder bells and knees!

So I’ve painted my knee pads and shoulder Bells, added some weathering but wondering if I need more or if that’s pretty good. Also have the knee darts from wasted Fett but have ordered proper metal ones from machine prop replicas!
