Need some advice.

The holiday is right around the corner and I realize no matter what I do nothing is going to arrive on time. Long story short, I’m looking to do a Mandalorian Helmet for a relative and I’m in a pinch as I don’t know what I’m looking at. I recently reached out to BobaMaker and unfortunately missed out on his run. I’m now looking at Anovos and EFX. What other options are there out there? Helmet needs to be accurate and wearable for a 7 3/8 head size and something that will be delivered within a reasonable time (new year at the latest preferably) thoughts?

Part of my concern going on Etsy or something similar is the lack of fiberglass, detail and accuracy in the paint. EFX has theirs available however I’m not sure it will fit a 7 3/8 head. The anovos website simply has a “interest list,” so I’m unsure if I missed the preorder or it’s yet to open yet. I’ve also heard horrible things about both companies, hence the interest in BobaMakers products but he’s not doing anymore helmets anytime soon.

I’ve seen his on Etsy. I saw a negative review on there and upon comparing photos of his helmets, the “T” visor seems too big and the proportions seem off. It’s not meant as an insult, just an observation.

I took care of that negative review. It has since been removed Because of real life harassment. Please take a look at my comparison pictures on my thread in the cargo hold. If you want, I can send you a kit and will provide a 100% money back guarantee if you don’t like it. I also think I’m the only maker at the moment using the actual screen used super expensive paint

I do recommend the efx helmet though, it’s very nice and made from the same mold and looks like they may actually be delivering products based on all the updates!

The EFX looks nice, doesn’t look like it can fit on someone’s head though. And it’s a lot of money, however it’s exact.

On the photo you posted, is the helmet in the middle the final product? Do you have any photos of someone wearing it? Is your helmet fiberglass?

It’s made from high quality gelcoat fiberglass. The middle one isn’t the final product that’s just a helmet in progress. I am reworking the paint due to a picture that Jon favreau posted of the helmet.

The final color will look more like this. Please note, this helmet is not finished.

The Efx helmet is meant to fit snug and is from the same mold as the screen used helmet that’s why I ordered some from efx myself.

It’s a nice helmet for sure. Paint looks nice. One of the biggest things I notice though is the cheek width on the T visor. Seems too wide. Seems the show version has a more narrow t visor! What’re you currently selling a finished version for?

Oh the t visor is definitely more narrow on my helmet, in most pictures none of the visors are attached so the mandibles are opening up a bit more. My apologies. But currently selling finished helmets for 350$ shipped (:

What size do your helmets fit up to? My question is that these style helmets run small usually.

Same here 7 3/8ths noggin.

I wore a 7 3/8 in the navy and it fits me snug. Which is how it’s meant to fit. I have almost a 24 inch head myself and it fits great!

I normally leave all my helmets out in the sun for DAYS when I run out of storage on my shelves and nothing happens to them. I guarantee that. Hell, should any warping or anything happen I will gladly replace it FREE! I welcome the rain as it helps clean the helmets from any mold release that is on them.

You should really only be worried about helmets that are slush cast or made solely from resin, those helmets will warp within hours in the sun. Fiberglass doesn’t have this problem.

Navy?

Heh. Army here. Infantry. Thanks for yo service bruh.

I appreciate the suggestion for the Helmet. I think I’m going to chance the EFX helmet and give it a shot. Hope it comes before the new year and I hope it fits a 7 3/8 head. If not, I guess it’ll be a nice collectible gift that’ll hold its value!

Is that your paintjob?
You need to throw an intercoat between the Alumaluster and whatever clear coat you’re using to seal. You want a waterbased clear. Thare a lot of options out there so just test to see what you like.

I’d also consider trying a 2K clear for the chrome base and sealer as well. You will get the final look much closer to the actual helmets with proper clear. I really like Matrix Speed clear or Matrix MS-42.

Hey MMM! Yeah that’s my paintjob and I actually researched some of your threads on therpf and have made some adjustments to that paintjob! Thank you for the advice!
I’d like to send you a kit to see if you can get match the color better as I really liked the job you did on the minature helmet!

Here’s a pic with the updated paintjob
