YEAH! That's not half bad, nice work

I ran into that same problem with the grommets on my belt...

...mine just barely locked together through the thick leather.

Here's a tip though if you feel like trying...
You can dig out some of the leather from behind to thin it out enough for the grommets to lock.
or
You can also just glue the grommets on.

I came up with a neat way to hook the belt. I found some hooks at Homedepot used to hang pictures. They were round with a small hook at the end, I rivited two on and they fit into the holes and hook the belt, that is why there is an extra strap. It works great.
