Links Section?

I was wondering if there can be a section of direct site links, primarily as a network between main prop-making forums/websites. I find my self going between a few of the main sites, and thought it may help members. Also, I think it can also help promote sites as well. For instance, tk560.com, I only found out by word of mouth, and I find myself using that site the most for my project. Another reason I feel a site link section could help, is because it opens up sites to a larger group of people who may have not even known about certian things, and can allow them to explore and learn about new things that they didnt know was around. My final reason, is also because once people know about it, the sites will get more attention and there will be alot more activity seen on those sites. Just my suggestion though.

Sorry, I do realize there is a section on the main page with some links. I actually meant having like a much broader and larger page.

tubachris,

There is no doubt this is a good idea and it is something the administration has looked into several times. However, we ultimately opted not to implement a links page for a number of reasons. First, a link section is basically a list of recommendations or sites approved by the linking site. We do not have the manpower, nor are we prepared to put an approval process in place so links could be added. By not simply adding any requested link, we would be setting ourselves up for trouble as we would be sure to offend someone. And what of seller's? What if FP is listed below RA but above MS? Does that mean we recommend them in that order? These things may seem trite and silly but time again we have seen the most trite of issues explode into over-dramatic monstrosities. I am open to thoughts and suggestions, but be aware that we have already looked into this, more than once and decided against it.

I apologize, for I wasnt aware this has been discussed before. Thank you.

how about a link thread? This would be first come first serve with no way to show favortism. Rules would need to be established to govern such a thread: Such as only the owner of the site can post a link?

i understand some of the reasons for not having a links section, not sure if a thread would pose any of the same problems or not, just throwing the idea out there.

I would not be opposed to a thread of links. In fact, we had one years ago, but I think it finally was deleted as the links were out of date. The only request that I would make regarding such a thread is that links to pages be applicable to our hobby and that links to pages with questionable content not be included which would include religious specific sites, political sites, and sites with adult content. While we have no interest or desire to micro-manage such a thread, we reserve the right to remove any link that is considered inappropriate.
