I am deciding on the guantlets, but how do you shape the plastic?

Try doing a Google search so you can see who sells it.

A heat gun is just one source of heat. It's similar to a hair dryer. You can use other sources of heat like hot / boiling water as well (you don't have to use a heat gun.) Just make sure you know what you are doing. Because if you don't, you'll melt the armor.:facepalm

Buy a heat gun at the hardware store in the paint section. It's like $25.

heat gun and some cheapo walmart trashcans you can get a good start. if you are still growing some of your "custom" pieces may be outsized soon anyway. nuthin wrong with trashcan armor. pop a search for it youll see.

Trashcan or sintra armor would be the better route to go on your budget, but as some have said, do it how you want to do it, as long as your happy with it.By the way, have you decided a color scheme yet?

I suggest using an oven instead of boiling water, unless you feel safer with the water at first. I forget the exact instructions but an oven at like 200, get tongs and hold the piece inside and you can see it become mold-able. I don;t think you need a heat gun. I too suggest trashcan armor, cheap easy and can look really good.
I wonder what style your custom is goin for? If you need help on color, armor style (cause its easy to modify Fetts), gauntlets or weapon choice it helps to know what your mando is used for or look your trying to go for.

It's common sense, you put a big risk upon yourself when you use the oven for Sintra.

Like what was just said, you can die, I don't think anyone wants to die over their costume.

I wouldn't say it's common sense...cause alot of people don't know just like I didn't.

Really, the only safe way to mold sintra is with a heat gun. Boiling water can spill, and if your not careful with the oven method you can release chlorine gas and potentially make yourself sick (I have never experienced this using the oven and sintra, but I also don't want to heh.).

I like to get a large piece of sintra and stick it in the oven and when it starts to melt, I pick it up with my bare hands and set it on top of my head. When the hot sintra starts to sag, I get a large rubber band and put it around the sintra and my head, so the sintra is fully enclosed about my head. Then, to get the wrinkles out, I stick my head into the oven with the sintra still attatched. When It is all done, I have a perfect head mold to make props on.

P. s. I am a complete liar.

Seriously, I wouldn't do any heat forming on anything using an oven indoors. All plastics give off poisonous gasses. If you still prefer the oven method, get a cheap one from a garage sale and use that in your back yard or something.
