Well from what I've read on this thread, some of the delays on this run would definately NOT have been tolerated on the RPF either, as they are not as kind over there :facepalm... But aren't there any DC Comic boards out there for something like this??

I've decided that if he doesnt at least give us an update soon im just going to tell paypal i never recieved my stuff and they can go after him and get my money back. I can understand a hold up and things getting screwed up and missing deadlines, it happens, but you gotta let people know whats going on...

I just know how quickly certain people jump to conclusions. I was also offering where my knowledge stems from. Please dont say things like "feeling guilty?" It implies other things even if you didnt directly say them.
I do understand the communication issue.
On note I will say it may have been based off of the same pattern (pinders) but it certainly ISNT the same pattern. I have the final pattern files for this particular project. The final is a vector pattern.

I don't necessarily agree with the "big names" on the practicality of this thread; I'm a SW costumer (have been since 1977, in one form or another), and this thread on this forum offers me convenience of getting what I need for other aspects of my costuming hobby; this Joker thing will be passe for most by next year, anyway, and us hardcore Jokers will have what we want by then. There's plenty of space for these few non-SW threads, and the one-upteeth billion post about how may lateral scratches can be found on Boba's helmet at any given time, or whether the Mystery helmet can fit a Big Mac under the visor or not...
Just my Custom Mandalorian 2-cents worth...

First, your statment is completely off... there aren't any issues with a "non-StarWars THREADS" being started....the issue here is runs on Fabric, and TDH being the "Unofficial" place to get JOKER MATERIAL???....:confused... don't see how you can't follow that really?...again showing off your work is one thing, but doing runs on something that is not even related to this board is just ...well, dumb..IMO...and probably shouldn't be here...and I'm more than sure the adminstration agrees, hense the new member policy.

Amen. And y'know, part of why I have lurked here and been a member here at TDH is that I have always wanted a Boba costume, ever since I first saw him in ESB... but I have come to appreciate all the knowledge and talent that is shown off, even when it is not star wars related. This includes the Iron Man threads, and (I believe?) Russ's Briareros helmet (from Appleseed). I also appreciate having people to bounce construction ideas off of, even if it isn't Boba... this applies to my Daft Punk helmet, which seems not to get much attention (sadly; I could use some more advice, people!).
As far as this whole situation goes, I can't really comment as I am not that familiar with the situation... but it sounds like a lot of people are upset due to the length of time it takes to get this order processed. Not going to repeat anything said by anyone else, but another thing to consider is this:
Did you all really expect to have a higher-than-normal quality costume done in a little bit of time, in order to wear it on Halloween? Costuming, especially if people want to make close to professional items (including fabric) takes a lot of time and money. It's not something you can whip together in a weekend, a week, or even a month. There are people here on this board who have invested years, and thousands of dollars, into their Fetts... And there are people who produce items which unfortunately go awry for one reason or another, including health -- I can remember 99Cent recently having appendacitis. Granted, he had someone he could contact and post for him via proxy. But the point is this: stuff happens. We are all human. We all have lives outside of this board, despite how active we may or may not be in this online community. Have some faith. The chips are not down; we do not have to resort to eating each other.
Point being, things like this take time. Kwally could be better about updates, but at the same time, patience is a virtue. If he refunded international orders -- which people are saying he has -- then he is most likely working on it, and taking his time with it, for one reason or another.

I do hope that this fabric order comes in soon, so that all of this useless "nerdy" bickering can come to a close. It is clogging up things. This kind of stuff is exactly why I have made myself a "lone wolf" in the cosplay world. This is why I refuse to accept any memberships to any group of costume fanatics. This is the kind of thing that will make me leave behind this site and I do not want that to happen here. The fun gets stripped out of everything when this kind of elitist nitpicking starts. This is a hobby after all. It is meant to be enjoyable. None of this is the least bit constructive to anyone for any project. Everyone, including myself, needs to pull it together and take care of thier own business. Can we all please just step back, take a deep breath, and move on to what really needs to be happening here?

Again, your opinion, as you have stated,and duly noted. My comment is a reflection of how it's not that big of a deal to have this type of thread here, as it reaches a lot of cross-over fans that otherwise might not 'run across' the fabric run info at another site (i.e., the RPF). It's only a small portion of bandwidth (that can be reclaimed later), it's all hard work being done by kwally and a few others (for free, I might add), and it's not costing anyone here anything to accomodate it...my opinion is, if folks don't want to fool with it, then don't click the thread link.
An on-going problem for forums everywhere, and one not likely to be solved any time soon. It's the nature of the game.

No offence to you Spidey, but FYI, I really don't give a d@mn if they do have an issue with my statement...I'm opinionated, if nothing else, and I make no apologies for it...some folks need to realize that this hobby is not real-life-or-death in it's scope; the comment was aimed at those TDH 'types' that live in their mom's basement and sweat over the small stuff with a intense anality that borders on psychosis. I was trying to make the point that this fabric run order thread is no more 'wasteful' of time and space, than those thousands of others I have to wade through, made by new members who don't (or won't) use the search feature, that ask the exact same questions time and time again.......I'll admit my eloquence suffers under duress sometimes...Not starting a war with you, Spidey...just discussing difference of opinion.

I have no vested interest in this run, but I caution you against this. If you lodge a claim, PayPal will freeze kwally's account, and assuming this still all legit, you could screw everyone by taking away his money with one action. He won't be able to pay the printer, and then no one will get anything. And kwally will get stuck with one massive bill.

Ah I don't know, I like the fact that the fabric run went through (and is still in process), but I'd agree that there shouldn't be anymore runs of non-SW stuff here. As much as I enjoyed doing this project, I beleive it is honestly weird having it here. But I also do beleive our run is to "in gear" to cancel. So no matter what anyone argues, it would be crazy to remove the thread, and let evryone loose contact when such a large ammount of money and energy has gone into such a product.
I beleive, if this year has taught me one thing, that there aren't are failures, there are road bumps, and they're just events that we have unfortunate learing times. I think, instead of argueing that this should of been done, perhaps evryone should relise, that we can't change the past, but must prepare for future events than we can do something about. I'm preety sure TDH's staff relises this, and has taken appropriate action towards future attemps at non-SW orders.
I don't think TDH is being "hurt" by this run persay, but at least it can make evryone relise a few things that can be done to deal with future large scale projects so that they're easier to deal with, and can keep our community happy. I myself have been keeping track of the various TDK threads and sending Mirax a PM mabey once a week to "wrangle them up", keeping the threads in their central "general disscussion" threads. So in other words, I bother Mirax once a week with the TDK stuff. p
The only thing that bothers me are the people who are here for the fabric ONLY, and have nothing to contribute other than "I want my fabric.", "I want my fabric.", and "I want my fabric."

I respect and understand the view from the regulars of this board about the whole situation. I started the Joker costume thread on the SHH over a year ago but within the whole time frame of that thread, no one once came up with a group plan to get an accurate fabric for the shirt. I searched high and low for anyone who might have had some or had an idea about obtaining it, and after only finding iron on answers or cheap, inaccurate fabrics on eBay, I came upon this thread on Google. Now I know how hard it is to handle a project of this scale; I looked into it myself and found the time frame and cost to be way too long and high at the point I researched it, but then boom this appeared.
I think the main problem here has been exposure: this is a topic that should have been on the SHH boards, or something similar, where there would have been a greater interest and probably more effort as a group for people to get this done on time, rather than one person taking the sole responsibility. I admire and thank Kwally for the opportunity, but this whole fiasco could have been avoided if this were orchestrated elsewhere. Yes I only joined here for the fabric after my relentless searches (although I am a SW fan, was on TFN boards for a while long ago), and I planned to leave after I obtained it. I'm sure the surge of visitors will calm, or would have anyway after the order is mailed out; and you probably would have had a few new members who stuck around for the love of the board.
The other problem is the complaints about a possible fraud of course, but I'd say its simple human nature to react such a way given the malorganization due to only one person running the shots. Yeah people could have been more civilized, but still it will be over soon enough, so we all have to just bear and grin it for now. As for those in fear, give it a little more time and try to understand the position Kwally is in and how much of an undertaking this has been.

Agreed. I wonder how many "new comers" could tell us the difference between ESB, ROTJ, and SE fett. Or if they could tell us what ESB or ROTJ stands for. :confused
