Tony is the backing leather or vinyl? I need backing for my girth belt but am unsure what material to use. Can I buy this at Joannes Fabric? Thanks for the help.

The backing is leather... I would assume you could use vinyl, but for sturdiness and longevity of trooping I would go with leather... Mine that I wear ATM, was backed with a scrap piece of leather the local leather store had and is quite thick (probably 10+ oz weight) where-as the ones I am making on this run will have a thinner backing, as mine is just TOO thick.
