Helmet painting: Humbrol 147, offwhite? Mine is grey...

My Humbrol helmet paint list (lost the source, sorry) says "off white base coat 147". I went to buy humbrol 147 today, and it's grey! Am I supposed to mix it with something, is the list wrong or am I totally blind (because I can't see that the colour could match from the pics I have)?

Help would be most appreciated! I'm meeting Jeremy in a month, and need to be perfect!

Is this an ESB lid? Maybe try asking Terminal Fettler or HeadlessHunter I am sure they both use Humbrol, and the list was probably made by one of them.

And, I think it's Therminal Fettlers list, but I'm not 100% sure.

well that link has a pretty good list of paints and humbrol isnt on it is it the concrete areas?

According to TF's ESB paintup, 147 is light grey and is used as the base coat before the silver.

The colour of that helmet looks off-white, but if that's the light grey I will try it like it is. Mine looks way more grey, but maybe it's better when it's dry. I'll keep you posted!

Thing with Humbrol is the colour can change from tin to tin... all depends on the batch.

They generally do dry a bit lighter, but only a touch.

I have done the paiting now, and it turns out off-white.
