Finding the Original Gauntlet Rocket Part

Viper

So I am about 90% sure that aside from the rocket tip, the gauntlet rocket is based on a Motorcycle (or similar) Transmission Shaft, 1978 or earlier. I have seen some that are close.
It is going to be a long hard search...

A spline shaft perfect, I could not find out what that specific component part was called.

Fantastic! RafalFett great info.Man I'd love to see the photos Art mentioned from Elstree.
I think we are definitely looking in the right area. Side note...I'm also seeing parts that look a lot like some lightsaber hilts as well.

Speaking of gauntlet rockets, did anyone notice in ROTJ it's not actually a rocket but fires a laser? Is it supposed to be a rocket canonically? Or just look like it and fire lasers?

There are plastic automotive clutch adjustment tools that look very similar too, but I think the best info is that is was a custom made piece for the films.
The copper colored tip was long long thought to be a model jet fighter kit part. I don't believe that has been confirmed or not.

I was also looking for these kind of transmission shaft for my rocket though  but I absolutely agree that the original must have been custom made. I also made some research for aluminum pipes with grooves for shelf systems which look very similar too I think. but I guess they dont use these anymore in germany so I coud not found some of these...
