DrToothache's Jango WIP (Kamino)

Small update on the Jango build.

I just picked up another flightsuit (bringing the total to three…) from KriptonTop/CBProps/CuchoGalaxy, along with his new flak vest. I grabbed it on a bit of a whim - mostly out of excitement that we finally have another solid option for Jango builders - and because I’ve had a great experience with his Boba flightsuit in the past.

After getting it in hand, I’m genuinely impressed. The first thing that stood out to me was the color. I’ve used Arkady’s and Evolution Props’ suits before, and the color has always been the one tricky area. Jango’s flightsuit tone is notoriously hard to pin down and changes a lot depending on lighting and which film reference you’re looking at. Somehow, Christian really nailed it here (at least to my eye).

Below are some photos in a few different lighting conditions:

It seems that the flightsuit gives off both blue and purple tones depending on the lighting. The flak vest (only shown in the last photo) is pleather, but it feels high quality and the color is accurate (blue/gray). My only real critique is the width of the shoulder flaps; they’re a bit too narrow - there should be a bit more material visible around the shoulder armor from both the front and back. The length of the shoulder flaps is perfect though, and they don't require "working" to get them to lay correctly.

Overall, I’m very happy with the flightsuit and pretty happy with the flak vest. With a slight adjustment to the shoulder flaps, the vest has a lot of potential.

The only other note on the flightsuit: it includes buttonholes for the thigh armor, which Jango doesn’t use, so I’ll need to stitch those closed. On the positive side, the buttonholes for the knee and shin armor are already in place (and perfectly positioned!) which saves some extra work.
Thanks for your comments ;)

Your Jango stuff is turning out great! Especially with all of the updates/changes that you have made since I bought it. I think that you have made all of the necessary changes based on what I have been told, but these were the things that stood out to me:

Flightsuit
- remove hose holes in outer sleeve
- widen ankles a bit so that they can fit around jango's boots
- Remove thigh button-holes (this is personal preference, technically there were thigh holes present for the screen-used costume - but most builders attach their thigh plates to their holsters rather than utilize elastic straps. Keep button-holes for knee and shin armor however).

Flak vest
- Widen sleeves (front-to-back) slightly and rotate sleeves so that they are facing forward slightly (rather than being centered). Sleeve length (left to right) however is perfect.
- Remove lower holes on the back of the vest that were incorrectly carried over from Boba's vest design for the scuba harness.
- Remove center seam along the back of the vest
- Increase size of arm holes (arm holes should extend further/lower down the vest)

I believe that you have already addressed most of these inaccuracies based on what recent buyers have communicated to me. I want to say that I am very happy with the Jango soft parts that you have supplied though. The color of both the flightsuit and flak vest are absolutely spot on! It is very rare that a Jango flightsuit doesn't need to be re-dyed, but yours has the perfect blend of blurple.
