craked fp lid help

hey guys . got a second hand fp lid that has a cracked cheek. it's the gellcoat that's broke . how do i fix this ? was thinking open the crack a little then fill with fiberglass resin . then may be put some fiberglass on the inside to reinforce some . this is a first for me so any help would be great . i'd hate to ruin this lid .

or may be someone that paints that could fix could pm me , i want a rotj paint up .

Seriously, I think the fiberglass on the inside of the crack would be good. And when that cures and is stable, fill the crack from the outside with either bondo or more resin.
