I bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered one of these. I figure at less that $10 including shipping, I don't have much to lose. I'll let you guys know if it's any decent.

I've got one of these - it's not definitely bad for the price, but the "radio-like" sound one gets out of it lends itself more to something like a stormtrooper rather than Boba. It's good for a starter or for a backup. At least people will be able to hear you with your helmet on.

I did end up getting one. The microphone is attached to a frame that mounts onto firefighter helmet ventilators. I ended up cutting the mic out of the ventilator clip thing and velcroing it into my helmet. It's definitely nice for the price, and can get quite loud. My biggest gripe is that the mic is hard-wired into the amplifier.

31" just got mine . mic has to be almost in your mouth to work . think i can cut in a coupler in it . may be a new mic . not bad for $10 .
